CHAPTER FIVE

A New Quest

A day’s ride

Rahlynn arrived in Stormwind early in the morning; the rain was beating down hard on his face as his graceful beast made a safe landing on the landing pad. He dismounted from the Griffin and paid his toll to the griffon master and set off through the trade district. Passing merchants of all wares and foods he made his destination of grave importances and made no stops long the way.

Stormwind is a decent size city and about an hour walk lead him within the park walls and he quickly made his way down to the moonwell within them. He looked around expecting some prank some joke to come of this, how ridiculous would he look standing within the wells water’s holding a talking medallion. Contemplating his own thoughts for a moment he hesitates and then feels around for the steps. Once he locates them he quickly climbs into its cold chilling waters and wades out to the center of the well. Raising both hands to the sky allowing the water to again beat down his on face he hollers out, “ELUNE BE PRAISED” and the medallion began to glow. He could not see its radiant yellow colors but he could feel the warmth on his face. Quickly after the medallion began to send images of a voice into his head.

“Good you found the next location, again I must be swift with the message as I had to break them up into segments to help secure it. I wanted to tell you Rahlynn first that it was not my intentions to leave you to the life you have lived. I wished better for you and fought every day for that better life. Know now that I am not a proud father nor am I a proud man for I have done many things in my life that I would not be happy about had I lived through them. Know this son, the happiest days of my life was knowing that I had a son to be born and watching you take your first steps. The look on your mothers face when you cried so loud that you broke all the glass in the house was priceless and it then known to me that you would be a great magi like your grandfather and myself. Please know that I am sorry for what I have done to you and your mother for although she was impossible to deal with I loved you both dearly. Know this to be true son above all things you may find out in the days to come.” For a moment Rahlynn wanted to throw the medallion away. All these years he spent forgetting the father that vanished from his life was the hardest thing of all things that he ever had to endure, and now for him to step back into his life in such a way was atrocious in Rahlynn’s eyes. Interrupting his thoughts the message continues. “There is a time in everyone’s life that one must decide what manner of person they will become. I chose to do what I did and I am not sorry for my choice although the results of what my choices caused are another story. I lived my life good and brave and I hope you do the same in your own way. Rahlynn there are dangers afoot that certain people in this world have known to becoming for many years. My adventures lead me on a path to stop such dangers from coming but along the way I had determined that such a cause could never be accomplished. I was sent to kill the chieftain of the Orcs yes this is true but along the way found myself befriending him.” Dropping the Medallion to the water out of shock Rahlynn stumbled back. “My father was befriending by such a savage beast?” Quickly searching the water with his hands to find the drop medallion to continue the message and stops and concentrates on it causing it to flow back into his hands. “But that is another story to be told, this is a time for you to know of what had happened to me. There was a visitor to our land during this time, a member of a scouting party I do not know the race of the man but his name I understood well enough. His people are of a far away land and had sent a scouting party to determine the best method in which to arrive to ours. I do not know the method in which they traveled here nor do I understand where they come from for their ability to communicate was strange. Anyhow know that my death was not command given from the Chieftain himself but by a lesser rank in his military. I do not know the mans name but I do know you would find him in the Crossroads. Son heed this warning the Crossroads is a dangerous place. If your journeys have not taken you there yet you would do well to know that no member of the Alliance might enter such a place in any manner other than that of a prisoner. My request of you son is to find my body, I am sure that they never did for had they found it they would know things that would cause such a disruption among the horde that war would break out between all races. Humans against Elves, Undead against Orcs, we are talking about a world destroying war. Find my body son and destroy the information you find. I know this message seems strange, the time line of it is off, and your next clue is hidden within these words. You must figure out how I know these things and then you will know the next location to travel. At the next location I can reveal to you exactly where my remains lay.”

And with those final words the message came to an end, and so did Rahlynn’s sanity. Or at least so he though has he placed the medallion into his pocket and climbed out of the moonwell. “Words that could disrupted all alliances? Words that could cause a world such as Azeroth to break out in war, a war that would cause an end to all life? What words have such power?” And so Rahlynn decided that there was only one group of people to ask such a question. Deduction the hidden messages between his fathers first message and his second, as well as the information he secretly gathers from the Druid he decided it was time to return to speak with a few old friends of his. The Kirin Tor. And so Rahlynn set his journey towards the northern lands.
