CHAPTER THREE

A rogue without guidance

The wind whistles harshly carrying the wild sounds of animals on it from a distance, upon the horizon the sun sets allowing for a perfect blend of colors. Colors that Rahlynn shall never enjoy again. Looking down from the setting sun to the landscape below Rahlynn closes his worthless eyes and sighs, opening them as he had in the past hoping that somehow his vision would return. A lost cause he knows as his lifeless silvery eyes shine from the reflection of the setting sun.

As Rahlynn stands atop a cliff the clement changes, it only has to shift a minor bit for him to notice anymore and quickly he realizes he is not alone. A quick sniff on the evening air tells him it is an animal, sweat with the stink of a wild beast un-bathed for a long time. Quickly he turns around hoping to startle the beast, but realizes this was futile for this animal is not as close as it appears. Reaching into his pouch he withdrawals an orb, perfectly spherical and places it to his forehead. As he removes his hand from the orb, it stays in place moments after removing his hand the skin around the orb begins to crack and the orb sinks in seating itself as if to never come out again.

Looking back and forth he hopes for some movement from the beast and as if answering such a wish he sees faint colors fade in and out of his vision. He quickly recognizes the colors to be that of plant life but nonetheless knows that this gives the location of the animal away. Placing one hand behind his back he beings to conjure a spell between his finger tips while he distracts the animal planning to ruin its element of surprise. I maybe blind but I can still hear you, come out. A moment goes by and no response, so to refrain from taking risks he swings his arm from behind his back and releases his carnage. Realizing the flaw in this, as he did not weigh his advisory he suffers his lack of judgment as his spell turns on him blasting him over the cliff and chilling every bone in his body, a pain that no person wishes to feel. As he falls over the cliff he feels the ground rumble and sounds of an animal snorting fill the air. Quickly he realizes it to be a Tauren. Noble as the beasts are, but not so wise it leaps over the cliff after him to assure that the young mage does not out live the fall. Lunging in the air and producing its war axe it growls as it pears down to see Rahlynn vanish in thin air. Quickly looking back as if suspending in air for a moment it watches as Rahlynn reappears at the edge of the cliff where he falls off again. Reacting better this time Rahlynn puts his hand out and grips the edge of the cliff right as he beings to decent a second time. Releasing a hot breath he mumbles to himself, Glad I remember that little trick, he listens as a load thud echos from below.

Lifting himself back up to safety he takes a moment to think, wait, no Tauren could do such a, and before he could finish his thought blocks of ice burst from the ground and incase him in a frozen prison. Stepping out from another bush stalks a troll who licks his lips hungrily at Rahlynn. Trapped he begins to dig through his memory for anything that might help him when his ears pick up the ever so faint sound of surprise. Focusing on the orb in his mind he watches as flashes of red dart in and out of his mind so quickly he can only imagine what type of creature is moving about.

**Shifting points of view**

Moving with the speed and agility of a fox a loan man makes his move on the attacking party. He watches as a Tauren lunges off the clip and moments later a human lifts himself back on. After allowing the displays of magic to take place he plans his attack. Slipping down in between two rocks he sneaks up behind the troll has it savors its moment of victory over the trapped human. The sound of metal cutting air is all that one could hear at first, and then the sound of metal cutting flesh. His first attack was a quick blow, a dagger sharp and finely cut, perfect to the eye and touch, impaled the trolls back. He found the sweet spot with his first strike, right in between two sections of the spinal cord. This locked the troll in place, not allowing him to move at all, paralyzed so that not even a breath escaped his mouth. The second strike followed so quickly that you wouldnt believe it ever happened, even if you saw it with your own eyes. With a spinning motion the roguish human circles around the troll to his opposite side leaving a trail of blood dripping from his second dagger and a permanent smile cut in the trolls throat. Promptly the troll falls to the ground dead before he settles on the rough rock. The human rescuer reaches down and plucks his dagger from the trolls back and whips them both clean of blood. Only moments after the troll fell did Rahlynn discover the reversal curse in his memory and conjured the ability to dispel it, which was made easier by its caster having been killed. Rahlynn falls over to his knees gasping for breath as the human turns towards him with an instinctual look on his face. Raising his dagger and poised to attack Rahlynn quickly senses the tension by the rogues movements. Beginning to plead for him to stop he is caught off guard as a whistling sound passes his ears and another thud sounds behind him. My apologies the rogue quickly says walking over to help Rahlynn stand, But the Tauren, the fall must not have been enough to kill him. My thanks to you rogue, for your bravery, there are not many who would help a blind fool in such a time of need, and against such a formable foe. Rahlynn quickly responds. Looking into Rahlynns eyes the rogue responds, Blind it is then, I began to wonder what fool would travel the Arathi Highlands without his wits about him. The rogue says and then adds, I must be going now, and will you fair well alone? Taking a moment to ponder this question Rahlynn decides he would rather not travel alone, not in the stage he is in now. Escort me down the road, there is a refuge there, if you please. I will play you for safe guarding me there, I do not trust my instincts against the raptors, they are most formidable even when I am at the height of my abilities. Thinking for a moment the rogue ponders this man. How is it a blind mind has made it out in the wilds of the highlands unharmed until today, settled on the idea of learning more about this blind man the rogue decides to escort him.

An hour later the two men have finally situated themselves and made it to the main road which leads to the refuge camp, with a patrol of guards just a few yards in front of them they find it a good time to drop their guard a bit. I am Rahlynn Delsuvius, and who might you be friend? heeding the caution of his upbringing at first the rogue is hesitant of releasing his name but resigned to the idea that a blinded human can be of little danger. I am Tebrimir. Waiting a moment expecting a bit more than just a first name Rahlynn quickly questions, Tebrimir the great Troll slayer and Tauren defeater? No just Tebrimir. He responds. A few more minutes pass until Rahlynn works up the nerve to question his companion again, Well just Tebrimir, where do you hail from? Looking at Rahlynn quiet annoyingly Tebrimir responds, Youve nerve asking so many questions, have some manners about you and be happy that I saved your hide and not left you for dead. At that Tebrimir quickly turned to leave but Rahlynn was expecting this. With the wave of his hand a gust of wind blew Tebrimir, spinning him around until he was eye to eye with Rahlynn. What games do you play at cripple? Tebrimir retorts to the magical attack. I am not crippled Rahlynn says as he peers into Tebrimirs eyes, I am only blind, but not stupid. Well a lousy display of that you showed back there wasnt it then? Laughing Rahlynn stepped back and turned to continue to the Refuge, looking over his shoulder he retorts, Been to Stromguard lately? Stopping in his tracks Tebrimirs eyes widen. Yes, its dead. Call me not stupid nor crippled then having seen the display of magic I can produce. But atlas I over did myself and would have been dead had not it been for you. Chasing after Rahlynn disbelieving his words he inquires, What manner of lies is this? How could you have? Cutting him off Rahlynn responds, I am a mage son, I am sure you would have figured that out by now, you are brave Tebrimir, and strong. I am sure I am not the first to admire your tactics and skill, but you are young in your skill and would do better not to insult those who can help you become great.

They walked for a few more miles silent as Rahlynn waits for Tebrimir to give into his growing curiosity. How is it that you could help me become great might I ask, not that I am not great already, I just want to know your thoughts on the matter. I am a member of an order, a group of individuals who spend their life promoting peace on all of Azeroth. But on the other hand we also spend our life gathering the knowledge, power, and will to carry out such a task. Rahlynn responds. The Order of the Divine Knights? Tebrimir inquires. Taken a back for a moment Rahlynn turns to Tebrimir surprised that he knows of the order. How do you know of us? surprised by Rahlynns own ignorance he explains, Its a story told by the children in towns I have traveled too. They speak of the great deeds and salvation of the Divine Knights, lead by some Priest and Hunter. That would be our leader Faeroth and his second in command Boomus. Shocked for a moment Tebrimir responds, Their real? Aye their real boy, and I am a long standing member of such an order, now I bring this up to you only because of your skill with the blade, your manners are lacking and well I would have to say charm is not in your vocabulary. Insulted for a moment Tebrimir stops, but Rahlynn quickly explains, As where mine when I first was approached with this same offer. I am offering you Tebrimir a chance to become apart of something greater than yourself.

As they approach the end of their path to the refuge Rahlynn stops of a moment to bring the conversation back up. Having left Tebrimir with his thoughts for the remainder of the trip to make a decision he inquires, Have you given it some thought? Yes I have, but I dont know that I am ready for such a journey. Such bravery and nobility is not something Ive ever wanted for myself. Taking a moment to consider Tebrimirs words Rahlynn sighs, Well each mans destiny must be decided for himself. You must decide what path is right for you, as I must decide what path is right for me. Think on it, do not decide quickly, and if destiny brings you to our order than we will be glad to have you. If such a day ever comes inquire in Stormwind of us, be it Faeroth, Boomus, the Divine Knights or the Conclave, or if you wish myself. Without letting another word be passed between them Rahlynn raises his hand and vanishes. Surprised by the sudden disappearance Tebrimir laughs to himself, Foolish mage, never need my escort.
