James Carmichael Sr.'s mother was Mary Campbell. She had 10 children when married to John J. Carmichael. Mary was born in July 1804 and died in August 1882. Her parents were from Perthshire, Scotland.
James married Jane Isabella McIntyre, who was born in Argylshire, Scotland in 1846. They had 5 boys (Ira, Peter, William George, Daniel and James), and she was stepmother to James' 2 living sons from his first marriage to Catherine Sinclair: Henry and Fred. Jane died in April 1909.
Jane Isabella McIntyre Carmichael. I see a strong resemblance to Jean Carmichael Marquardt, while Diane and Jeanne see Georgia Feasel!
Labelled "Grandma Carmichael" on back by Jean Marquardt
Labelled "Grandma Gray, right; Grandma Swan, left" on back by Jean Marquardt. In the Caledonia Highlanders website, I found a few Grays listed from Caledonia, but no Swans. I'm not sure how these women fit into the Carmichael family tree.
