Below are some of my pieces of journalism that cover cycling events. The recent stories are from the Spanish five day tours held throughout the season of 2002.

There are some earlier reports from 1999 and a special photo from the 2002 Giro D'Italia.

To the right is a photo of Mr. Indartsu, The Basque hard man - David Etxebarria winning stage 5a of the 2002 Itzulia. You can find an interview with David covering cycling and the Basque Country below in the 2002 Tour de France section.

Giro D'Italia 2002

cadel aboriginal flag

Cadel - Rising up under the Red, Black and Gold.

My lounge room view of the Giro is not a story, but a photo taken of my TV set. The photo is of Cadel Evans, Andrea Noe and D. D. Cioni ascending the Passo Coe to Folgaria during the final climb of  the dramatic 17th stage.

At this point Cadel had lost about 14 minutes to Salvodelli and with that time he also had lost the Magglia Rosa. It was a sad day for Aussie bike fans but we know this is just the beginning of Cadel's road career. What is interesting is that, rather than a Basque, Italian or even an Australian flag, flying to the right of Cadel is the true flag of my country, the red, black and gold of Aboriginal Australia.

So, if you are in Australia, next time you go out for a ride, remember

¡¡¡¡ It's Aboriginal Land and you're riding on it !!!!
