Theater Room Framing Rear Theater Room Framing
Started the project in November 2003. HT room here I come. Wow!! Tons of work!! My first challenge was to make the room acoustically sweet. I designed the stage area to accept my big ugly floor standing speakers and just below them, 2-powered subs. To the rear of the room I framed in for all the equipment. I really wanted to make sure the room looked like it was part of our home, not a "themed" movie theater like Marcus...its a home!! You will see I installed soffits (drops) around the room for acoustic and lighting purposes. The room is 15x24 (odd X even).  I couldn't believe the amount of romex cable I needed, I installed over 1750ft of romex cable in this room. I installed 15 recessed lights 6 wall sconces and 2 sets of rope lights (23 total light sources-WOW!). All of the speaker wire is Monster Cable in-wall. For the front main speakers I ran 12 ga. wire and for the sides and rear 14 ga. The sub is fed the low pass signal thru a RG6 coax cable. I hardwired for the projector with coax cable, s-video and component video since I wasn't quite sure what I would need at the time. I insulated the entire room head to toe. Here comes the drywall!!!
