In the community, he is actively involved with the United Way of Greater St. Louis, having served as Chairman of the Tri-County Board and Campaign Chairman of the Tri-County United Way.
Earlier in his career, Jack accumulated experience in computer systems, electronic imaging, and flexographic printing technology during employment with E.I. duPont de Nemours, The Miami Herald, the St. Paul Dispatch/Pioneer Press and Western Publishing Company.
He is a graduate of Drury College, with a BA in business administration.

“There are many ‘degrees of separation’ stories, but our story and the story of our relationship with Drury is a ‘miles of separation’ story,” says Jack Delo of his courtship. Jack met his future wife, then-freshman Sherry Brock, during his last year at Drury, thanks to a blind date at Leong’s Tea House and a Fox Theatre showing of Mary Poppins. Jack says, “Sherry was perfect – beautiful, bright, fun, interesting ... I had never met anyone so utterly charming.” By Jack’s graduation, the two had decided to continue their relationship long-distance.Over the next three years, Jack and Sherry “dated” across miles and miles. Sherry stayed at Drury, and Jack “burned up the highways” between Drury and Memphis for a year before being stationed by the U.S. Navy in Norfolk, Vir. Despite the distance between them, the couple fell deeply in love. Sherry spent her summers doing internships on the East Coast, cutting down on the distance between her and Jack. Finally, Jack and Sherry returned to Drury for a wedding in Stone Chapel in 1968. Since then, Jack and Sherry have lived in Wilmington, Del.; Miami; St. Paul, Minn.; and St. Louis, but have kept in touch with many Drury friends and fondly remember other influential relationships they formed in their college years. Despite the fact that they only shared one year together at Drury, they had many of the same professors and found they had common ground in similar experiences. For example, Dr. Allen Eikner greatly impacted both of them through his philosophy courses. Jack was inspired to minor in philosophy, and jokingly complains, “Sherry learned analytical thinking in philosophy, and she has used it on me ever since.”

The couple also recalls the influence of Dr. Margaret Kidder, Spanish professor, and the trips they both went on with her to Mexico. While on one of Dr. Kidder’s trips to Monterrey, Mexico, Sherry practiced speaking Spanish, ate goat, and discovered that “their tacos were not as good as Mexican Villa’s.” Jack accompanied Dr. Kidder to Mexico City where the group attended a bull fight, practiced drinking Mexican beer, and discovered that “even tequila will not make mole taste good.” The Spanish skills acquired in classes and on such trips were of great help to the Delos while they lived in Miami. During their time at Drury, Jack was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity and Sherry was a Tri Delta. Sherry’s ties with the sorority set a family precedent; eight other family members have since pledged Tri Delta. Both hold fond memories of social activities; the highlight of their semester courtship at Drury was the Sigma Nu White Rose spring event. Jack also remembers lessons his Greek brothers taught him outside the classroom. He said, “Bill Mauck ’63, Paul Blume ’63, and others taught me how to play bridge. Kobby Kobbermann ’65 taught me how much fun it is to cheat and Tex Lewis ’65 taught me how much fun it was to cut class and play cards.” Building on their Drury educations, both Jack and Sherry own businesses. Sherry is a financial planner with Delo Advisors in Clayton, Mo., and Jack is the president and CEO of Datapage Industries International, located in St. Peters, Mo. They have two grown daughters, Carrice and Stacey. Because of their time spent at Drury, the Delos proudly claim ties to alumni friends across the country, in Boston, New York, Los Angeles, Kansas City, St. Louis, Tulsa and Monett. The Delos are proud of their Drury education and have taken advantage of opportunities to help the school. Jack served as a Class Agent and both have been involved in Admission recruitment. Their commitment to Drury also extends to their consistent financial support. Jack says, “The years have ticked by, the miles have added up, Sherry and I have changed, Drury has changed. But whatever the distance, relationships can grow and memories of those Drury days remain the same.”
