Fred H. Delo, 95, a resident of Missaukee county for many years died at Ridgewood Hospital at Ypsilanti, Mr. and Mrs. Delo had been with a daughter, Mrs. Claude (Thelma) Kinsey at Milan for the winter,
Mrs. Delo was born January 8, 1872, in Fremont township, Isabella county.
He married the former Melissa Meyers in 1894 in Shepherd. They moved to Missaukee county in 1917.
Surviving are the widow and daughter, Mrs. Kinsey, daughter Mrs. Goldie Haenke of Farwell, son Emerson of Lake City, brother Jesse of Lansing, sister Mrs. Martha Curtiss of Winn, 9 grand-children, 15 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Services were held in Lake City Methodist church with
Rev. William J. Schoettle officiating. Graveside service was at Union cemetery at Winn.
Mr. and Mrs. Delo had been married over 70 years.

Hazel owned and operated Williamston Floral as well as Duby's Lake Lansing, Lookout Inn in the Ossineke/Alpena area and Alibi in Tawas City, MI.


58. Dale Wardwell

Age 82, passed away on Sunday, April 18, 2004. He was born on May 28, 1921 in Lansing to Thaddeus and Edith (Delo) Wardwell. Dale drove for Greyhound Bus Line for 17 years prior to becoming a Deputy Sheriff with the Ingham County Sheriff’s Department and serving for 17 years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Central Michigan Law Enforcement Association. He is survived by: his wife of 59 years, Ruth; children, William (Nancy) Wardwell and Diane (Charles) Dittenber; grandchildren, Matthew (Kathryn), Tammi and Kelly Wardwell and Charles and Micheal Dittenber; great grandchildren, Jonathan and Maranda Wardwell; brother, Keith Wardwell of both Holt and Florida. Dale was preceded in death by: his parents and 5 sisters. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 21, 2004 at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, Winn, MI. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home. For those who wish, memorials may be given to Sparrow Home Hospice or a charity of one’s choice, in memory of “Uncle Dale”.


33. Queen Odessa Delo

Queena Odessa Lint was born June 22, 1884 in Fremont Twp. She died Jan. 27, 1963 at the age of 78 years, 7 months and 4 days, She was married to Clyde Lint Sept. 1903. To this union was born 5 sons, Vervie, Clare, Angus, Stanford and Les. She lived most of her life in Fremont and Rolland Twps. She was a life member of Winn Chapter #377 Order of the Eastern Star.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Clyde, on August 20, 1961, her son, Vervie, on April 28, 1962, also a grandson Clydie, May 28, 1941.
She leaves to mourn, her 4 sons, Clare, Angus, Stanford and Leslie, all of Blanchard. One granddaughter Dawn, 4 grandsons, Lonnie, Terry, James and Louis. Also, 3 brothers, Alvia Delo of Blanchard, Bainey Delo of St. Clair Shores, Ray Delo of St. Louis and 1 sister, Reka Slates of Alma. Many nieces and nephews, and a hoet of relatives and friends. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Billie Kennedy at the Delo church Wednesday Jan. 27, at 2 o'clock

In 1913 Alvia Delo was 20 years old and ran the grocery wagon. Wages were $35.00 per month with room and board.He worked about 16 hours a day.

Donald O Smith

Moved to Florida in 1978 from Lincoln Park, Mich. He was a retired truck driver for General Motors and a member of Beverly Hills Community Church. He was an Army and Navy veteran of World War II and member of the Harry F. Nesbit Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10087.
