| I literally have a half a day left. Right now it is 8:40 a.m. and the plane leaves at 3:30. I wont arrive home until 10:30 p.m. tonight, though. I wanted to get in one last entry while I was still here in Mexico, plus I wanted to check my email, so here I am taking care of that. Oh- I also wanted the website for checking my grades, but I cant seem to find it. Sometimes this school complicates things- there is no ONE main page- there are pages for every little thing. So yesterday I went with Becky to Taxco. I am glad I went along because it is so beautiful and was a nice way to finish off my last full day. Also, we didnt stay too long, which was good because I had other things I wanted to do. Last night/evening I said goodbye to a lot of people and especially the children that live across the street from me. That was so sad! And the ironic thing is that they and their mother are one of the biggest parts of my life here and I have completely forgotten to write about them in my journal! I cant go into details now, but Julisa, Pepe, and Gustavo (5, 4 and 3 years old) were some of my best friends here. I am going to miss them so much. They are a trip! I have photos of them that I took, so when I get them develoed, I will be sure to post them up. Also, I am getting the photo of us three developed and put into a frame and sending it to them so that they wont forget me. They swear they wont, and their mother does, too. She kept telling me how much they were going to miss me. Pepe ran into the house to get me a present and came back with his red hat that he wore sometimes and said, "So you wont forget us." I almost cried! Then Gustavo ran in the house and comes back with his Teddy Bear! Then Julisa ran into the house and came back with something she had made at school- a little foam bear with a candle attached to it! They were so sweet! I told Gustavo I wasnt going to take his teddy bear since I didnt have space for it and that I wanted him to play with it. Their mother gave me a container with reindeer on it. This old lady down the street who I befriended gave me two huge tortillas from Oaxaca. Now the question is how will I fit all of this stuff!? So, everything is looking pretty good and on schedule. I want to leave for the airport at 10:00 or 10:15 because I dont have a VISA, my luggage is heavy, and I am also trying to bring home some things that I dont think I am supposed to. Just fruit and the flowers for agua de jamaica. I hope everything goes smoothly because I am really ready to just have this wrapped up. I need two more photos before I leave, and I kinda wanted to take a photo of a banana tree with the bananas growing on it (they finally came into bloom!), but I would have to walk back down the street to do that. Im not sure if it is a good idea for me to take time to do that, just because I would hate to have missed the plane because I was trying to take photos of a banan tree! So, I guess the next time I write, I will be back in the States. Its been a good one. Hard to believe Im going already. Okay- let me get outta here! Bye! |
