I thought I should give a brief intro as to who I am and why I am doing this journal and going to Mexico.
Basically, I am a junior in college, majoring in Spanish. Unfortunately, I wasted my time in high school taking Latin (any high-schoolers out there, don't do it- you'll wish you had done something else), so II started taking Spanish in college, not in high school like many other Spanish majors. Even so, I have always done really good in it in my college classes and loved Spanish from the start. I have learned a lot so far, but felt like the only way I was going to feel really really comfortable with the language would be if I actually went somewhere where people spoke Spanish and lived for a while.
So, I hopped over to the Study Abroad program at my school and did the whole application process and got accepted! The college I chose is ITESM-Morelos in Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico. Cuernavaca isn't really a big city or anything, but it is just the size I had wanted. ITESM-Morelos is a small school of about 3000, which is a good size, I think. They are known for having a good Language Program. While there I will be staying with a family. I don't know too much about them, other than that they are a young couple with a four-five week old baby! I know that the father is Canadian and speaks fluent French and Spanish and the mother is Mexican and speaks Spanish. They both speak English. Now the question is, how much English!?
As far as the journal, I am doing it because I thought it would be a good way for me to keep in touch with my friends and family (more so my friends), while I was away. This way, they can come here and see how and what I'm doing at their leisure and e-mail me if they want to. I also thought it would be a pretty cool record of everything I did for me to look back on at some point. I like making scrapbooks and stuff like that, and think of websites as another way to do scrap-book type stuff. I will probably post pictures as I go along and take them. Like I said, other pics are at my other website, but I am going to try and only put photos related to my trip on this one.
So, that's pretty much it! I want say hey to all my friends- HEY! And you guys had better keep in touch and let me know how all of you are doing!!!!!
One more thing, if you come, please sign the guestbook! I put a counter on the site, so I don't want to see like 700 people and have no clue who is stopping by! I'm nosy, okay. Besides, I'm putting my life online here- you can at least tell me who are are!
