-COUNTING CROWS

 

Jc lifted himself on the hood of his car. His eyes twinkled with excitement, a smile danced across his lips. The metal beneath him was extremely hot, being black in color on a sunny georgia day, but his hands hardly noticed the scorching sensation against their padded fingers.

The rolling plains before him were an unusual and welcome sight after years of seeing nothing but skyscrapers and highways. He watched corn flow in the breeze and black birds land on a scarecrow, which was pretty much useless. He watched the birds fly onto the stuffed farmer, claiming a seat and not giving it up.

They began to land on the fence before him. They began to land on the telephone wires and the roof of the old barn that stood to his left. He followed them with his eyes, and soon noticed a twenty-third land on the roof of his acura.
