As the clouds slowly revealed the moon once more, a movement caught Neona's attention. She looked over her shoulder, seeing her mother's Glaive. She walked over to it, grasping it in both hands. It had been over a year since she last touched it. She preferred to use her daggers for any fighting now, for the Glaive had too many memories attatched...Memories Neona would rather forget. "But how does one heal the scars of a broken heart and shattered dreams?" she whispered, putting the Glaive down. "Sorry, Mother, " she muttered as a tear streaked down her cheek, "But I cannot walk down your path." As she walked back inside, she failed to sense she was being watched, nor had seen the eyes watching.
The countryside went on forever. "Seems this one sure likes her privacy," Kyle muttered to himself as he drove the deserted highway. He chuckled, "Makes one wonder if this address actually exists." Trees endlessly passed by, broken by the occasional meadow. He drove over a bridge and realized he was no longer on the road, but on a driveway. As he passed an address sign, he glanced at his directions. "House 666...Apparently Im on the right track," he muttered as the house slowly came into view.
Neona watched the approaching car. "Strange," she said quietly, "They usually realize they've made a wrong turn by now."
Kyle looked around in awe. "What a beautiful place," he whispered, "I can see why one would want to be so far out." He stopped at the door, making sure he looked presentable. He raised his hand to knock and jumped in fright when the door opened.
"Can I help you?" a soft female voice asked. Kyle struggled to find his voice "I..uh..I have...." "Come in," she offered, allowing him in. "Uh...thank you"
He followed her through a series of rooms until they came into a fairly large room that had a fire going in the fireplace. She motioned towards a couple of chairs "Please have a seat, and tell me why you are here." Kyle sat down, realizing that he had not seen what this girl looked like, for the entire house seemed to be in darkness, and in this room, she stayed out of the firelight. He took in his surroundings, and silently gasped athe Glaive hanging on the mantle. "Where did you get that?" he asked. "My mother..." Kyle looked at her. "It was passed onto to me when she died, but I do not carry it for once you have been through what I have, seen what I have, experienced all that I have," she stepped towards the light, "then you might understand why I choose not to carry it."
Kyle's jaw dropped as she stepped fully into the firelight. Never before had he seen such wonderous beauty in someone so simple. She wore a simple linen dress, tied at the waist with a black sash. Her long, dark hair accentuated her deep green eyes which seemed to hold endless secrets. She chuckled. "I see my looks have done the same effects to you that they do to many others." Kyle closed his mouth. "Why are you here?" she asked. "Oh...I..." he fumbled in his pockets for a monet, then pulled out a small green velvet bag. "This was given to me with instructions to deliver it to this house. I assume you are Dani?" "No, I'm not" she replied as she took the bag, opened it, "but Dani was my mother." Her eyes misted over as she pulled a blue crystal from the bag. "You're Neona then?" he asked. She nodded. "What happened to your mother? he asked gently after a moment of silence.
"She once lived here...Had a prosperious life, made friends, found love - Everything a young girl dreams of. She knew her destiny and fulfilled it. She battled the Five Deaths adn miracously lived through it. Soon after, she was forced to return to the Heavens to take up her post as one of the Arc Angels." The fire crackled. "No one expected the attack of the vampires. They were always assumed to never have the force needed, but we were all wrong. My mother sacrificed herself in an attempt to save her realm from the vampires...Sadly, her attempt failed. She died, but the vampires did not. Her soul went to what we call the Mirror World, and she was later reincarnated to help fight the vampires once again. Soon after that, she learned that her one true love, a Demon, was dead." She shuddered. "Despite my attempts to help her and everything I did, she killed herself by means which made it impossible to bring her back. She had somehow casted her soul out of our reach."
Kyle walked over to her, taking her hand. "Then this is rightfully yours," He smiled at her, "Things will get better for you once you have complete the task set out for you." He nodded at her, then turned and left her. As he stepped out the door, he paused, looking back at her, "You have a chance to not take the life your mother did, but in your heart, you will soon know whether it's truly the right way or not." Neona turned to him, but he was gone.
