Special Occasion Speech
Requirements:
2-3 minutes
Outline
Due Monday, December 2nd

For this speech you will be acting as a speaker at some sort of special occasion or event.  Popular choices in the past have been award presentations, toasts, and eulogies.  Your goal here is to imagine that you really are a speaker at the occasion and that your audience is the rest of the people attending it.

Any background information you feel you need to give before beginning your speech is welcome and will not count toward your time.  That is, you may want to explain to the class what the occasion is, where it is taking place, who they are supposed to be, etc.  However, you may feel that your speech can be more effective by simply diving right into it without background information.  The choice is yours.

Important things to remember:
Keep your content appropriate to the topic and the occasion
Write your speech as you really would write it if you were in this situation!
As always, keep it clean and class appropriate!
Although this requires less outside research and preparation than certain other speeches, it still requires thought, planning, and preparation.  Don't try to wing it when you get up in front of the class; it's not an impromptu!

NOTE: If you find it useful, you may make the occasion an imaginary one.  This is particularly useful if you wish to present an award to someone you know personally ("Friend of the Year" Award, etc.)  or an entertainer or a celebrity you admire ("Comedian of the Decade" Award, etc.)
