Darkness
by Leandra Njaa
Darkness, still surrounding me
filling up my eyes
No sound or movement reaches through
this cloudy blackened vise
I move silent, searchingly
and seek chance of escape
And notice, only fleetingly
the brush that light can make
I whirl about and turn to face
this blinding, formless foe
And find again no answers
to the questions I must know
I forge ahead despite the
painful brightness I must face
And seek to learn that which I can
of this ungodly place
For if I cannot find in dark
the solution to my plight
Then I must seek it on within the
searing realm of light
