Censorship

Recently I was talking to a colleague of mine who was, to put it bluntly, highly pissed off at his Internet service provider. Why, do you ask? Censorship, that's why. Browsing the net and trying to follow a link to some web page, he was greeted not by the home page of the web site he tried to access but by a page from his service provider. This page told him that they thought that the page he was about to access is not suitable and therefore should not be accessed.

I am not going to name the provider. Those of you who use that provider will know which one it is, those who don't use them, consider yourselves lucky.

Who gave them the right to determine what is and is not suitable for us? Those pseudo moral high rollers with their narrow minded, whimsical standards are the perfect example of an infantile minority, so insecure in their believes and intellect that they feel the need to forcibly impose their pathetic views on us. Not trusting grown adults to make their own decision about what and what not to view makes these providers look ridiculous and laughable. They are pitiful.

What I watch and read is my choice and I don't need some moron with an inferiority complex telling me what is acceptable or not. This type of behavior is usually only exhibited in a dictatorship, a place where the tyrant tells everybody else what to do. If their fragile ego can't handle the responsibility of trusting the judgment of others than they have no business providing services such as Internet access. I don't tell them what to do and I expect the same treatment from them. Needless to say, I was not surprised when my colleague switched providers. I would have done the same.
