* * * * *

Viggo dreamed that Vincent came to his studio.

"A painter, a poet and an actor - you have three lives."

"Five," Viggo smiled.

Vincent was motionless as he set eyes on Viggo's canvas.

Viggo felt like taking a photograph of the intense silence between them.

"How do you know the moment it is over?"

"I just let it flow through. It stops where it likes to stop."

"But it's so difficult to hold it inside." Vincent left without saying goodbye, running after the fading sunlight.

Viggo contemplated his dream. Then he remembered that Orlando had asked him the same question.

*

The color of the sun, of the sunflowers, of a harvest field; of the moon on a starry night, of the light from a roadside cafe. Of an artist's life. Of the wildest imagination.

He could feel the breathless beauty in his dream.

Viggo opened his eyes. "This is a dream."

"Then it is a good dream." Arwen leaned in for a kiss.

Viggo looked at her, but was thinking of another elf.

"How do you know the moment it is over?" Orlando asked.

"It stops where it likes to stop, but that's not the end."

The moment is eternity.
