CRESCENDO International - Bucharest, Romania May 2000 - to date

A Romanian software company distributing, managing, implementing, customizing the MFG/PRO QAD's web-enabled core enterprise ERP software that provides midsize and multinational companies with full-function, integrated solutions that include manufacturing, distribution, and financial applications within an open system environment

Programmer and business analyst

During last year, updating and customizing a Web application for document workflow, BizDoc, created by an Israeli software company. The application is currently used by a multinational company in several countries. Application is handling all AP invoices flow in these countries, being connected with an IBM Content Manager server, a scanning facility, WebSpeed servers and MFG/PRO servers in countries. The application uses a Windows service for capturing scanned invoices data and a web form to update invoices data. The CIM batch processing is used to create vouchers in MFG/PRO for approved invoices. WebSpeed programs are performing web data validations using data from the MFG/PRO systems. Web reports, utilities and a management console allow users to manage system. The mix of technologies and programming languages used for this application added to the complex architecture qualifies the application as one very complex, efficient and modern means to handle supplier invoices.

Developing of new maintenance programs (written in PROGRESS, versions from 7.3 to 9.1D) to enhance the base functionality of MFG/PRO, to meet our clients and the Romanian legislation requests .

Analysis, concept and development of a new module destined to enhance MFG/PRO functionality in budgeting area. The module is very flexible and deals with budget data, actual data that are extracted from the system and reporting.

Developing of several new major modules fully customized to the needs of a major foreign multinational company. One major module is covering the area of trade spendings and allows the company to set up the system of business deals agreed with its customers and suppliers and handle the off invoice and bonuses granted to customers based on their performance. Another module allows the company to measure the customers satisfaction level based on the performances in fulfilling orders and delivering them to the customers. Another module is designed to match the invoices and payments for one customer that is also supplier in one single step, saving time for the users.

Modules and enhancements cover Sales, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Costs, General Ledger, Inventory, Production, Purchasing.

Analyzing customer requests. Producing functional specifications. Documenting work done. In some cases training customer users. User support on site and on call.

COLGATE PALMOLIVE ROMANIA S.R.L. - Bucharest, Romania January 1997- April 2000

A joint venture between Colgate and two Romanian partners, operating currently one factory (initially two) in a hyper-inflationary economy, producing 80 brands with over 200 products for local and export sale.

Programmer and business analyst

Developing of new programs (written in PROGRESS) to enhance the reporting system of MFG/PRO, to meet the requests from other departments, users and management.

Development and maintenance of new functions or customizations of existing functions to enhance MFG/PRO system functionality to fulfill user necessities.

Implementing new modules in MFG/PRO (fixed assets and salaries).

Working closely with all departments to define requirements for new developments and to implement them.

Processing and preparing data for several data analysis requested by company internal auditors.

Creating and preparing procedures and documentation for user training, both for business operations and Windows programs:

Training people for several activities (cash and carry operations in MFG/PRO, quality control specifications maintenance) and for use of Windows and Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Lotus Notes, CC-Mail).

MINISTRY OF LABOR. - Bucharest, Romania March 1992- June 1993

The Romanian Ministry of Labour and Social Protection in a very interesting period of time, starting to extend massively the use of computers in as many fields of their activity

Analysis, development in FoxPro for DOS, implementation and maintenance of custom applications, specific to the labour and social protection field, for several departments.

Applications: Country level management of the qualification and training courses organized for the unemployed people, management of the mails received by the Ministry (unions requests, complains etc.) and maintenance and inquiry of telephone agenda countrywide for the Ministry.

For UNHCR (United Nations High Commandment for Refugees) an application dedicated to the management of the data related to refugees records and requests application was designed and installed. At the time, it was the first attempt to collect and centralize information about the refugees in Romania.

TERITORIAL IT CENTER. - Zalau, Romania August 1986- Feb. 1992

The center offered shared IT services for almost all companies of the county, both software and hardware, including analyses, development, implementation, post-implementation, training, technical assistance, hardware installation and configuration, service. Some of the customer applications were actually run and managed at the center, not at the customer site.

Programmer and business analyst

Analysis, development, implementation and maintenance of applications in Cobol and Fortran, on several types of computers (grand grandparents of today's computers), for several manufacturing companies. Working directly with people in different departments of these companies to make the required in-depth analysis. Applications covered financial, manufacturing, costs, inventories, personnel and salaries activities.

Training for PC users, Windows, DOS, Norton and other programs on PC. Training was meant to prepare the future IT people for several local companies. Preparing training materials, organizing activity and exams.

Personal project in 1992: development (in Turbo Pascal) of a tool similar to current Paint program installed in Windows 95 (except that it had no buttons, only menus). This program was afterwards used to create the small drawings necessary for a computerized driving tests program, that was destined to be used by the police in testing new drivers knowledge. This drawing program had rotating at any angle, any direction of images, zoom in and out at any scale, fill, color selection, rectangular selection on the image that could be moved, copied, paste, flip, mirrored, etc. The whole project quite innovative for that time, considering that PC 386 were known in the country for less than one year.

Also as a personal project developed an application that allowed user to select clothes from a (very small) "collection", view them on a moving man or woman "model", change and combine colours of the clothes, and in all, trying to simulate a virtual fashion presentation, created with very primitive tools.
