Started as Anglo Arabic College with Intermediate classes.

C. Eyre Walker was appointed Principal of Anglo Arabic College.

Drill and sports were made compulsory for all students.

Degree classes started by virtue of the efforts of Principal C. Eyre Walker.

College Union was founded with Mr Omar-ud-din as President and Agha Mohammed Ashraf as its first Secretary.

The first issue of Urdu magazine, Arabic College Magazine came out.

"Oriental Society" was set up with Professor Manzoor Husain Musavi as President.

College Annual Dinner was started.

The College Society staged "Nikah Bil-jabr", the first Urdu play to be staged in the College.

Post-graduate classes were started.

The Governing Body was reconstituted as per the Rules of the Delhi University. The first meeting of the Governing Body of Anglo Arabic College was held on 27th March.

Second meeting of the Governing Body was held on 31st March. Nawabzada Liaquat Ali Khan was elected Chairman, Dr. Zakir Husain, Vice-Chairman and Anis Ahmed Rushdie (father of Salman Rushdie), Treasurer.

Mr Khurshid Ahmed Chishti was appointed Principal in the eighth meeting of the Governing Body held on 4th October.

Anglo Arabic College and the affiliated institutions were closed in Semptember, 1947.

Resignation of Nawabzada Liaquat Ali Khan was accepted in the Governing Body meeting held on 12th December in Karachi. Dr. Zakir Husain was made new Chairman.

The College remained closed during the academic session 1947-48.

The building at Ajmeri Gate was restored to College in March. A battalion of Madras Regiment had remained stationed there since the eruption of riots in 1947.

Admissions started in July, 1948.

Anglo Arabic College was renamed Delhi College as per the resolution passed in the Governing Body meeting held on 23rd July.

Delhi College and Anglo Arabic School became independent entities from July onwards.

Mirza Mehmood Baig was appointed acting Principal of Delhi College.

The College was reorganised as a co-educational institution. Girl students were admitted for the first time in the month of August.

Physics and Chemistry labs. were set up. Pre-medical and B.Sc. classes started. Many new subjects were introduced..

New constructions came up.

Evening College was started because the Camp College in the Punjab was closed.

Delhi College faced grave financial crisis.

Dr. Zakir Husain Memorial Trust was established.

Delhi College was given over to Dr. Zakir Husain Memorial Trust.

Delhi College was renamed Zakir Husain College on 27th August.

First meeting of the Governing Body of Zakir Husain College was held on 24th January.

The Government of India gave "Heritage Award" to the building of the College at Ajmeri Gate.
