"Friends"
Fearless folly and fickle fate
Is what I would anticipate
If I hadn't but a friend to know that someone cared indeed.
Listless laughter and a languid life
I'd take away with such a knife
If my heart had turned to stone and I no longer had the strength to lead.
So dear friend that's true
Hasten to my side
Take me back before those days
Before those days in which I lied.
Before I spoke without assess
When I thought that all the world weighed less
Upon your shoulders . . .
But my own judgement befell upon my head
With the foolish words in which I said.
When all the world lined up askew
You had the strength to pull me through.
True friends that come such as you
And rare indeed and very few.
