*Weeks In & Highest Position may not be accurate. Figures are only from the last 6 weeks when the chart re-started.
There are lots of new entries again this week. 10 in total and leading off at 66 is Dannii with one of the b-sides to her current single. I've heard a lot of good stuff about "Nervous" (which should debut next week) but I actually prefer this one, "Hide And Seek".....Sophie Ellis-Bextor re-releases "Take Me Home" in Australia and it debuts at 72. The Jewels & Stone mix of this is excellent.....A strange debut comes from Samantha Fox at 73. This track is from her 1997 cd "21st Century Fox" which I've only recently discovered. It's a great pop/NRG song and if you're a fan of Sam and can find this song then check it out.....Down a little further at 81 is Jennifer Lopez with "Loving You" which is a b-side to "All I Have". I didn't think that Jennifer would chart ANY songs from her current cd with all the rapping going on but I'm happy to say that there isn't a rap in sight on this funky song. The scary thing is, I'm actually starting to like "All I Have" complete with LL Cool J.....Girls Aloud come in at 83 with "Sound Of The Underground". I may be a little late to this song and I have to admit that the only thing that made me really aware of this group was the fact that one of the members has been charged with racial assault. Of course she denies it. I wanted to take a listen to the song and found it's pretty good despite all the hoo-haa. Anyway I'm sure everyone knows that this a band from a 'Popstars' show in the UK. If you want to know more about them, you can check them out here
GirlsAloud.co.uk .....Another UK girl group debut this week. It's Mis-Teeq at 87 with their UK Number 2 track "Scandalous".....Ian Van Dahl's "Secret Love" is at 92. This track is being released as a double A side with "Try" in Germany.....Sophie Ellis-Bextor again at 94 with a b-side to "Take Me Home". "Sparkle" is one of the best tracks from her "Read My Lips" cd.....Jocelyn Enriquez has been failing to ignite my chart with her new material so I've gone back to her older stuff which I've only just heard. "Do You Miss Me" probably won't do much on the chart so I guess I'll have to wait for her next new single.....Finally at 98, Soft Cell make it to the chart with "The Night" which enters on the strength of the Almighty Edit.
Power Picks...As expected, Becky Baeling charges up a whopping 37 places to land at Number 23. What can I say about this song that I haven't already said? It may not be anything ground breaking but I really like Becky's voice and the song is so damned catchy.....Celine takes the second Power Pick. "I Drove All Night" finally starts doing things for me and it's up to 61. I've listened to many mixes of this track but I finally got my hands on the original version and in my opinion it's by far the best although, it couldn't come close to Cyndi's classic.
Well that's my chart for this week.
Any comments?
Until next time, take care.
Brett
