*Weeks In & Highest Position may not be accurate. Figures are only from the last 8 weeks when the chart re-started.
For the past 3 weeks there have been 10 new entries and the highest of those this week goes to Suzanne Palmer with "Show Me". I saw Suzanne perform at Mardi Gras here in Sydney about 6 weeks ago and I still can't stop raving about her. She sang "Show Me" as well as "Hide U" and her voice was absolutely incredible. I was so impressed I came straight home, found her web-site and sent her an email. I felt like I was 15 again but it was nice to receive something back from her. What a nice lady!!! Anyway, you can check out her web-site here SuzannePalmer.com .....Next up at 62 is Becky Baeling with a track lifted from the soundtrack to "The Guru", "I'm Gonna Fly". While not as immediately appealing as "If You Love Me", it's a great pop/dance song and should also do well on the chart. Look out for Becky's next official release "Getaway" to debut in the next couple of weeks.....S Club are next at 66 with "Love Ain't Gonna Wait For You". I've never been really into S Club. I've liked them but thought their music mostly forgettable until now. This is a great track and I'm predicting big things for it on the chart. I keep hearing rumours that they're going to split up and I have seen they will be releasing a track in the UK with 'goodbye' in the title. Time will tell.....Further down at 81 is Dannii Minogue with her next official release "Don't Wanna Lose This Feeling". This marks the 3rd week in a row that Dannii has had a new entry and it brings her total of hits on this weeks chart to 5. This song is following the same path as "Nervous" did last week in that when I compiled the chart I wasn't that into it but since then I've heard it heaps and it's really started to grow on me. It should make big moves next week.....Another song that will take a giant leap next week is right behind at 82. It's Madonna with her controversial new song "American Life". I was only able to get my hands on a version that kept repeating the melody over and over again making the song debut quite low on the chart. However, I went out and bought the cd single and I've fallen in love with it. Looks like another hit in the making for Madonna. At least on my chart anyway.....87 is "Body" by 14 year old Faith Trent. There is no way this girl sounds 14. A great dance track!.....Ex Bananarama member Siobhan Fahey bows at 88 with her first hit "Bitter Pill". I wonder if she'll ever be known for her own merits. Hopefully if this track is anything to go by she will. I'd still love to see a Bananarama reunion though.....2 places down at 90 is H & Claire with "Another You, Another Me", the follow up to "All Out Of Love". I think these guys have been dropped from their label which is a real shame because I quite like their music even if they can come across a little trite sometimes.....From the 'Almighty Records' stable is Rochelle with a cover of the old Britney Spears track, "Born To Make You Happy". Almighty are known for their great mixes and cover versions of popular hits and I think this one is quite old but I've only just discovered it.....Lastly at 97 is Samantha Mumba with "Read My Mind" which is another track from "The Guru" soundtrack, making it 3 songs from the soundtrack on this weeks chart. There's Samantha, Becky at 62 and Sugababes' "Round Round" is also featured.
Power Picks...Celine Dion has had a Power Pick for "I Drove All Night" for the past 3 weeks now and she's up 11 places to 31 this week. Celine's Chrysler commercial in which this track is featured has just started airing on tv this week so I'm hearing quite a bit of it.....Second Power Pick goes to last weeks highest debut Karaja, with "She Moves". Still looking for info on Karaja so she's still a mystery to me.
Well that's my chart for this week.
Any comments?
Until next time, take care.
Brett
