a busy, modern city with shipyards, foundries
mills, factories, and a marine terminal
for ocean vessels.

The old Academy was built in 1798.
It was tuition based until it became part ofthe public school system in 1852, at which time underprivileged children were admitted free.

Built in 1732, the courthouse served
as the meeting place for
Delaware's Colonial Assembly
from 1732 to 1777, when Newcastle was
the Capital of Delaware.

has been recreated and sails again!
