Hamlet is a six month old sable merle. He is the product of a back yard breeder. Hamlet came to us, when Lynne recieved a call from his human daddy. It seems that Hamlet's human mom couldn't handle a puppy, so they took him to the SPCA where they were told the puppy would be put down due to lack of space. I (stacy) went and met with Hamlet and his family. Hamlet is extremely active, which is par for course with a sheltie puppy. He's very vocal, and likes to talk to you. He's a great jumper, and is food motivated like most dogs. Being from a back yard breeder, he's not very socialized, and tends to get clingy in uncertain terrain. However Hamlet is good with other dogs, and cats and toddlers. What amazes me with him, is that after I removed him from his old home, he did a complete 360! My daughter can hug him, climb on him, and even grab him!! All he does in retaliation is lick her. And does the whoo whoo whoo greeting to her. (and yes, Katie does it back) My husband can pet him, and he'll come when called. We're currently working with him to desensitize him to being picked up and handled. He will bare his teeth and growl if you try to pick him up and move too fast around him. He needs a home with soft gentle voiced people, he is nervous around people with loud voices. Hamlet tends to love vehicles, and runs the fence line when he sees cars driving by in front of it. He's currently being worked with on the leash, and was not leash trained when he came into our home on 6/16/00. He has had all his puppy shots, and his rabies. We're currently getting him into the schedule to be nuetered in a few weeks. Hamlet has one brown eye and one half brown/half blue eye. He's smart as a whip, and is crated at night. He's also housebroken and will bark to let you know he needs to go outdoors. He likes to jump, on you and the furniture, and we're working with him in that department. He's sweet and likes attention. With the right family, he should blossom into a very well socialized young man. If you think you can offer him the forever home that he needs, please email us at: mailto:[email protected] |
