Strategies to Defeat Fictional Charachters
Ever watch a movie and think, gee there's no way to beat that thing? Well if you have then just for fun I've posted some insights after pondering that same thought.
Superman:
-superman is seemingly indestructible, having been born on the planet Krypton, his physiology has been enhanced by the rays of this solar system's yellow sun which gives him "super powers".

abilities: invulnerability to kinetic attacks ie. bullets, bombs, and explosions up to nuclear detonations at ground zero. superhuman strength, superhuman speed, superhuman hearing, superhuman sight (macroscopic/microscopic),  x-ray vision (except through lead), heat ray vision, wind generated from breath, freezing cold blast generated from breath, trans-atmospheric flight including space travel, ability to oxygenate blood for extended durations without breathing.

weaknesses: element known as kryptonite has various weakening effects, red sun light nullifies all super powers leaving him a normal man, inability to see through lead, prolonged deprivation of sunlight weakens his abilities however reintroducing sunlight restores powers to full potential immediately.

strategies to defeat: a sniper lying in wait within a lead enclosed blind, armed w/ a 50 cal. rifle loaded w/ (AP) armor-piercing rounds made of kryptonite. Have Superman enter a confined area, such as inside a building so as to restrict his movement and flight. He would not be able to detect the ambush until after the shot has been fired. The bullet would travel at the speed of sound and as it nears Superman he is weakened thus reducing his super reflexes and speed. The kryptonite bullet tactic was once employed in the Lois & Clark series using a 50. cal Desert Eagle semi-auto handgun

The Cybermen:
These were cyborg aliens in the Doctor Who series.

abilities: superhuman strength, advanced weaponry
weaknesses: gold particles lodged in their chest respirators. Also vulnerable to late 20th century firearms such as 9mm handguns and submachine guns. Very limited speed, although its not certain whether they were actually faster than they appeared to be.

strategies to use: The cybermen were slow moving yet the Doctor and his companions were always caught by them. If they are truly slow it would be easy to use a downward side-kick delivered to the back of one of their knee-joints so as to cause them to fall or at least have them stumble. Thus allowing escape to gather better resources to defeat them. Punches with bare hands have always resulted in bruised or broken hands. If they do manage to get you within their grasps then the inevitable crush happens or they deliver a killing karate style chop.
The Terminator: (Cyberdyne Systems Terminator Models T-101 and T-800)
-a killing machine from the future. Endoskeleton made of metal alloys covered by flesh so as to disguise itself as a human being. Has meta-human strength and speed. CPU brain with intelligence and logic matching and exceeding a normal human being when in learning mode. Night vision and sights.Terminators were known to resist multiple shots from light arms of the late 20th century such as 5.56 rounds, 9mm, 45 cal and 12 gauge shotgun blasts. They were also able to resist explosions and fire to a limited degree up to 1500 degrees Farenheit. The first Terminator was disabled by a nitroglycerine pipe bomb and subsequently destroyed by a steel press. The second Terminator was destroyed of its own will by submergence in molten steel.
Terminators of the future were armed with plasma rifles. Terminators located in the present have familiarity w/ weapon systems of our time period and are able to use light arms with deadly accuracy.

strategies to defeat: the Terminator was not entirely indestructible as described above. Modern light arms are ineffective w/ perhaps the exception of 50 cal rounds which have not been tried against them. However, man-portable light antitank weapons such as the LAW and AT-4 may be effective to destroy the Terminator if not disable it. The vehicle mounted TOW missile system can guarantee destruction. (note: the police and SWAT teams were never able to mount a proper offensive against any of the Terminators due to lack of knowledge as to what they were dealing with. Then again arrogance was their weakness.) Hand to hand combat is strongly recommended against due to the Terminator's strength and speed, as well as its extensive knowledge of human physiology used to identify efficient points on the human body in which to deliver death blows. If hand to hand combat were to be a last resort then strikes to the joints may buy some time to escape.
Godzilla:
-Godzilla of the late 20th century was a king komodo dragon mutated by radiation from atomic tests conducted near the island of Bikini Atoll. Godzilla has increased mass thousands of times its normal size. Additionally, he/she has self reproductive ability. Godzilla's speed is potentially in excess of 200mph as demonstrated by its ability to outrun Apache helicopter gunships. Godzilla has fire breath and the ability to absorb radiation as energy. (note the 1998 version required organic sustenance)
Godzilla was resilient to most weaponry in the US military's arsenal. In the past nuclear weapons have had no effect. In fact, radiation gave him power. Any handheld or man-portable weapon, basically all light arms and standard antitank weapons have no effect as demonstrated by Godzilla's resilience to 30mm chain gun fire from Apache gunships. Perhaps such rounds would be like mere needles in relation to his size.

strategies to defeat: Many vehicle mounted weapons do have some effect. M1 main battle tanks w/ 120mm main guns loaded w/ SABOT rounds which are designed to penetrate all known forms of armor. AH-64 Apache helicopter gunships armed w/ Hellfire missiles. If the Apache pilots are unable to target or chose to fire from cover, then assign infantry w/ laser target designators to aim the missiles for them. F/A-18 Hornets w/ Maverick missiles if he is in the open. MLRS (Multiple Launch Rocket System) firing salvos of missiles at Godzilla. However, heat seeking munitions are unable to lock onto him perhaps due to the fact he is cold blooded or due to the radiation he gives off. Also note that many of these heavy weapons were not used or were used initially but later declined to be used due to collateral damage. If given free reign, these weapons are more than capable of inflicting lethal wounds. Also, attacks should always be directed at Godzilla's head, preferably the eyes.
Hand to hand combat? Yeah right, escape and evasion would be more practical.

Vampires:
abilities: superhuman strength, high regenerative healing ability, limited mind control (Dracula and other master vampires), resilience to light arms fire. .

weaknesses: sunlight, garlic, holy water and crucifix (effectiveness no longer certain in modern stories) wooden stake impaled through the heart.

strategies to defeat: normally the hero stabs the vampires with a big wooden stake. More efficient weapons have included crossbows. No one has yet taken the next step in the concept of projecting the wood into the vampire's heart. The means of which would require the use of rifles loaded w/ standard hollow point rounds with wood imbedded in the cavity. For extra punch perhaps the wood can be saturated w/ holywater and garlic extract. As for handweaponry, the use of a shiv or dagger w/ a wrist strap so not to be dropped, blade crafted from dense wood saturated w/ holywater and garlic extract, may prove effective if stand-off distance of projection weapons is compromised
Typical Monsters: (any biological organisms such as blobs, all known animals)
-biological threats that can't be harmed by normal bullets and bombs. If they are biological organisms which are carbon based lifeforms then there are limits to their abilities.

strategy: use fire such as acetylene torches. If more heat is required, then use white phosphorous, thermite or magnesium. To a greater extent nuclear detonation if delivered properly. (note: this does not apply to Godzilla) (Recently the film "Evolution" presents a biological threat that is impervious to fire and in fact feeds of it.)
