Shigeru Miyamoto
1998 Interview With Zelda Creater, Shigeru Miyamoto
(Sampled from Nintendo Power subscribers bonus 1999 issue)
Nintendo Power: Ocarina of Time is very cinematic. Which films influenced you?

Mr. Miyamoto:
Many people may say that this game is like a movie, but it's more like an experiment in developing a new form of interactive media. This game is not like a movie, but rather the camera is becoming the stage performer. I like movies--I like them a lot.

NP:
What codes and secrets can we expect to find in Ocarina of Time?

M:
Because Zelda is an adventure game, you have to find many things, and many of them may be hard to find. Sometimes, if you have a Deku Stick and you find some butterflies flying around, you can make them follow you and something special could happen...

IF YOU WANT TO BECOME A GAME ARTIST, YOU SHOULD PLAY GAMES AND MAKE UP YOUR OWN IDEAS. JUST TRY TO SURPRISE PEOPLE.    - Shigeru Miyamoto, 1998: To Nintendo
power interviewer
If someone from Nintendo sees this, I hope they don't get the wrong idea. I love Mr. Miyamoto's games and I am trying to promote their magazine.
