sitting around esplanade area from 6-ish to late night, I listened to soundtrackish music played through speakers throughout sunset, then some fantastic jazz from 7.30 pm onwards. glad I made the trip there. learnt much from the saxophonist tots talentino.

sat through the sunset with a senior who’s quite a somebody in the jazz scene, and then mixed with some bigwigs of the scene too. quite cool to see how humble they were despite the recognition they get, doctorates notwithstanding.

also damn cool to spend an entire day with someone who doesn’t know me, nor the life I actually lead, talking about nothing else but music, jazz, and… what else, girls? heh. definitely took my mind off all troubles for the time being. (not that I have any =p)

the view from where I sat in the amphitheatre was majestic. the opening in the “roof” revealed just enough of the sky to contain the skyline of the city’s heartbeat – the financial district – with a gleaming fullerton in the foreground. (insert national education) not to forget the spouting merlion to its left too (exit NE).

a cool friday night spent listening to some burning jazz – for free!
