a bag of blood

did something damn silly, but worthwhile, I thought, on wednesday.

tuesday night, I tried asking her out for lunch on wednesday since she ended class early, and it’s my free day. but she had a follow up checkup at the hospital. been thinking of going to the bloodbank again for some time already, and so I jumped at the chance:

I’m going to the hospital to donate blood anyway, so we go together from school?

and so I met her on wednesday morning. she looked fine, healthy, albeit a tad pale. but happy. forgot what she said that made me laugh, but the tea I was drinking got mixed up somewhere and came out through my nose. haha

there was a slight drizzle, and I happened to have an umbrella with me luckily, so sheltered her to the bus stop, and started our travel to the hospital. if only it were heavier, I’d hold her close.

reached there very early, so we had lunch at the food court there. somehow not feeling hungry, so I left a big part of my food untouched. somehow I always eat very little with her. good for diet I guess. haha. then bought and shared desserts. perhaps I have low expectations, but that meal was pure bliss to me. still very early, so we sat there and talked till it was about time, then accompanied her to go draw blood and wait for her turn, but had to scram before her aunt and uncle came to meet her.

then carried on my way to the bloodbank. dropped by the organ donor registry to pick up a pledge form. only 2% of singaporeans (oops I revealed my nationality haha) are organ donors. you want to know why?

(1)     the organ donor registry was a long long way down a secluded aisle.

(2)     the door to it was locked.

(3)     when the door was opened moments later, the registry that I saw was the grand size of my bedroom. which isn’t big at all.

with such limited priority and attention given to it, it’s no wonder that not many people pledge their organs.

but anyway that’s besides the point.

carried on to the bloodbank. went through simple short procedures and then got my bloody blood drained out of me. needle didn’t really go in fully, so the nurse had to stand there and hold it in me all the way. felt awkward, so I resolved to force the blood out of me as fast as I could. anyway she had white musk on, so it wasn’t so bad. nice. (but not thanks, she’s old. haha). and now I’ve a big blue-black mark to show for it. but felt good to do good though.

then went on to other uneventful stuff after that. looking forward to seeing her on saturday. was the packet of blood worth it? think so… haha.
