Our Arizona Honeymoon

For our honeymoon we decided to go to Sedona, Arizona. Neither of us had been to the southwestern deserts of the US and we thought it would be interesting to see. We stayed at the Poco Diablo Villas courtesey of Jill and Chuck. Our room opened onto a golf course with a view of Bell Rock.

Our first day of exploration took us to Montezuma Castle, an old Native American cliff dwelling. We learned about the Sinagua people who used to inhabit the ruins and how they suddenly disappeared. We also picniced at a limestone sink hole that had ruins built into its cliffs.
The Grand Canyon was amazing! It didn't even look real to us. We took the shuttle all the way to the last stop and then hiked along the edge of the Canyon before stopping in at the shops.
Wupatki National Monument was a very extensive ruin. The Native American that lived there had even built a round arena where they played some sort of ball game and held meetings.
In Sedona there was a beautiful Catholic Church built into the rocks.
From inside the Church the members get to see this amazing backdrop.
On our visit to the Painted Desert and the Petrified Forest we saw some old Native American petroglyphs.
The Native Americans who lived in the area of the Petrified Forest had even used petrified wood to build their homes
On our last night in Sedona we went to the Blazin' M Ranch for dinner and a cowboy show. They had an Old Western town set up with gift shops, and displays. There was a cowboy showing how to rope a steer and even a gallows in case someone needed to be strung up.
We had a wonderful time in Arizona and we would highly recommend Sedona as a wonderful vacation spot.
