Chapter 62: Busch Practice
Martin then caught up to them and said, �So you boys decided to forget all about me? Ok just joking. Hey Jr since we have two C2 cars here how is the crew chief deal going to work out?�
�Hmm I have some one coming down here and he will be your crew chief so don�t worry,� Jr told him.
�Hey Jr,� Kevin interrupted them. �I had a different idea but hey I guess that�ll work.�
�Ok,� Jr said.
�Jr I have Martin�s surprise crew chief,� BONO told Jr.
�Ok who is it BONO?� Jr asked.
�Aren�t you the car owner of Chance 2?� BONO asked Jr. �Isn�t it your job to introduce him and taking the wonderful blind fold off this wondered crew chief?�
�Ok BONO,� Jr answered. �Your Crew Chief is my cup car chief Tony Eury Jr. he ahs been learning from Tony Eury the elements of a good crew chief so now I�m putting him to the test.
�Ok cool,� Martin said.
�Hey Jr why isn�t Tony with you?� BONO asked. �I mean your perfect in the cup series together with Tony Eury.�
�Because your with me and that�s the way I�m working it out this weekend,� Jr explained to BONO.
�Makes sense and let me get this straight Jr,� Kevin started. �You have two chance 2 cars. First thing who gets the chance 2 crew? Second for the person who doesn�t do they get the bud crew, Mikey�s cup crew or Andretti�s crew or a whole new crew?�
�Kevin they will get my bud crew just for this race ok?� Jr told Kevin.
�Ok and you get the chance 2 crew!� Kevin put the puzzle together. �Hot stuff! Good luck Martin and Jr as I got to see Todd.�
�Thanks Kev,� Martin thanked him.
�Thanks Kevin!� Jr also thanked him. �Bye!�
Kevin then ran off to see Todd.
�Lets get ready to head on the track for practice,� Jr said.
�Good idea,� Mikey commented. �I�m going to see Bobby. Bye guys!�
�Bye Mikey,� Martin and Jr said off.
Mikey ran off to Bobby as Jr and Martin were walking to their garage stalls. They were both right beside each other since neither had that many owner points since the garage spots for Daytona were based on the owner points from the year before.
�Where is Tony Jr?� Martin asked.
�Peek-A-Boo,� Tony Jr surprised Martin.
Martin jumped in surprise and said, �Hi Tony Jr.�
�Tony Jr be good,� Jr told him. �Me and Martin are going to put a grade together at the end of the day on Saturday which includes your behavior from now on.�
�Ok Jr,� Tony Jr said.
�Alright boys split up and lets get to work,� BONO directed. �We shall work as a team and share information since I know Jr and Martin will mark that right?�
�Right,� Tony Jr answered.
�Tony Jr I think he was talking to me and Jr but anyways we better get to work and work on communication.� Martin explained to Tony Jr.
�Oh ok sorry about that you guys,� Tony Jr apologized.
�We forgive you,� replied Jr.
�Ok,� Tony Jr said.
They then split to their sides and started to get to work on their cars. Jr got his helmet on and then got in his car and got his seatbelts on. He then headed on to the track. After a few laps Jr came back into the garage and told the crew about the car.
�I just want 1 pound in the tires,� Jr told BONO.
�Tire specialist and tire changers please note that down on your list of stuff to do,� BONO told the crew. �Anything else Jr?�
�That is mainly it,� Jr answered.
�Alright boys get to work on that,� BONO told the crew. �Adjustment and check over the section of the car your suppose to.�
Meanwhile down in the other garage, Tony Jr as checking out the car that Martin was going to use.
�Is it all good?� Martin asked.
�It looks fine but we need to see it how you like it when you are in the car and practicing out there on the track,� Tony Jr answered.
�Alright,� Martin said. �The car handled good in qualifying just to let you know but of course I know that it may handle different in a pack then by itself correct?�
�That is correct Martin,� replied Tony Jr.
�Glad to have someone with experience over here,� Martin comments.
�Thanks,� Tony Jr thanked him.
�Anyways lets go run some laps,� Martin said.
�Ok,� Tony Jr said.
Martin then went out to the practice line-up and when he got there he saw that Jr was in the line.
�Tony Jr do you hear me ok?� Martin asked.
�Yes I do,� Tony Jr answered.
�10-4,� Martin said.
�Something tells me that Kyle isn�t practicing the #5 car,� Tony Jr said as he watched over the cars on the track.
�Oh ok,� Martin said.
�So watch your back,� Tony Jr warned him. �I�m going to warm Jr of this.�
�Ok Tony Jr,� Martin said as he went on track.
Tony Jr switched channels and said, �Dale Jr can you hear this voice?�
�10-4 Tony Jr what do you want?� Jr asked.
�I have a feeling that Mr. Busch isn�t driving the 5 car,� Tony Jr started. �He is driving a Hendrick Motorsports car so you never know right?�
�Right,� replied Jr.
�So just watch your back because you never know,� Tony Jr warned him. �Good luck Junebug.�
�10-4 Tony Jr,� Jr said.
Tony Jr switched back over to Martin. After a couple laps of practice Martin called to Tony Jr and told him that his car was on the loose side.
�10-4,� Tony Jr said. �Bring it in so I can make it perfect since I so want to beat my cuz.�
�Ok,� Martin said. Then Martin took the car back to the garage area.
�I am going to make a adjustment that should help,� Tony Jr told Martin. �You see anything interesting about that 5 car that maybe Jeff or Jimmie are in it? Or if they got Kyle in their plan?�
�No sorry,� Martin said.
�Its ok,� Tony Jr assured him. �No need to be sorry. Mysteries are very hard to solve.�
�Ok,� Martin said.
Jr then came back in from practice well Tony Jr finished up the adjustment. Then Martin went back out on to the track. Tony Jr wanted to find out what was wrong with Jr.�s Busch car.
�What�s wrong guys?� Tony Jr radioed to them.
�It just was too tight to handle,� Jr answered.
�Gotcha cat,� Tony Jr said. �You see anything interesting about that 5 car that maybe Jeff or Jimmie in it? Or they do they got Kyle in their plan?�
�I think I saw Jimmie in the car or just got Kyle in their plan,� Jr reported to Tony Jr. �Its hard to see who is in the car.�
Tony Jr radioed Martin the news.
�10-4 Tony Jr,� Martin said.
�So I was right,� Tony Jr said.
�Right about what?� Martin wondered.
�The deal with the 5 car,� Tony Jr told him.
�Ok,� Martin said.
�Guys what the hell are we gonna do now?� Jr asked on the radio. �Go out and practice or stay back and trick them out once again?�
�Just go out and practice for a little bit and then come back to the garage and then trick them or something like that,� Martin told Jr.
�Deal,� Jr agreed to Martin�s idea. He then got in his car and went on to practice. Then a few laps later Jr called Martin to let him know to come to the garage.
�10-4 Junebug,� Martin said. He then ran a few more laps around the track and then headed to the garage. He got out of his car and headed to where Jr was standing �What�s the problem?�
�I think its Jimmie in the 5 car but I am not sure,� Jr answered.
�I see,� Martin said.
�Or Kyle is following their plan,� Jr added.
�See its good to have a good mind on stuff like this,� Tony Jr said as he went to where they were.
�Yep,� Jr agreed.
�I say we do some spying,� Martin suggested.
�Yes,� Jr agreed.
�We spy on the 5 garage to see what they have stored for us,� Martin added. �But where to spy from?�
�I don�t know,� Martin answered. �Do you have any ideas Tony Jr?�
�We sit on that picnic table and just watch carefully,� Tony Jr suggested. �By the way anyone called the girls lately?�
�Ok that sounds good,� Jr agreed with the plan. �No.�
�Well BONO since your just standing around can you call our ladies?� Tony Jr asked.
�Sure,� BONO answered. Jr gave BONO his cell and BONO called Teresa�s cell phone.
Teresa answered the phone and said, �Hi.�
�Hi this is BONO,� BONO told her. �Everybody ok there?�
�Hey BONO,� Teresa said. �Everyone is ok�
�Awesome girls,� BONO commented. �We have a situation with the 5 car. We think Jimmie is driving it or Kyle is in their plan because the 5 car is owned by Hendricks. Plus there are some courious stuff they are doing. So we are all not practicing and we are going to spy by eating are lunch at the picnic table.�
�Ok,� Teresa said.
�Would you ladies like to join us?� BONO offered.
�No thanks,� Teresa declined the offer.
�Ok,� BONO said. �Call us if you need us. Good bye!�
�Ok,� Teresa said. �Bye!�
BONO then hung up the phone and gave it back to Jr. �Alright guys the ladies are fine,� BONO said. �I told them the story about the 5 car plus I asked if they�d join us. They said no.�
�Ok,� Jr and Martin said.
Tony Jr then came back with their lunches and they went to the picnic table. Then they started to eat and then looked over at the garage area.
�The 5 car is coming in,� Jr reported.
�Ok,� Tony Jr said.
�Here comes the test�was it Jimmie or Kyle?� Martin asks.
�Lets see,� Jr told Martin.
The 5 car pulls into the garage stall and the person in the car gets his helmet off and his safety things off and then he started to come out of the car. The person is Jimmie.
�Well anyone have any ideas now?� Tony Jr asked.
�Not really,� Jr answered.
�I am really pissed off now,� Mikey commented.
�I think we all are Mikey,� Martin pointed out.
�Well I wonder if he is driving the car on Saturday,� Mikey wondered.
�I don�t know,� replied Jr.
�Shall one of us go over and ask?� Mikey asked.
�No,� Jr answered.
�Get one of your buddies to go and ask,� Martin suggested.
�That is a good plan,� Jr commented.
�Why don�t you ask Tony Stewart?� Martin suggested.
�Ok,� Jr answered.
Martin and Jr then went to Tony�s trailer. When they got to Tony�s trailer they knock on the door.
Tony opened the door and said, �Hi Jr.�
�Hello Tony,� Jr greeted him. �How�s things going?�
�Its going ok,� Tony answered. �What do you want?�
�First of all are you busy because if you are I�ll ask someone else?� Jr asked. �Secondly how do you know whenever I want something?�
�I am not busy at all and I just know,� Tony answered.
�Ok do you know about the fight between Hendricks and DEI and RCR?� Jr wondered.
�Yes I know about that,� Tony answered. �Why?�
�Do me a favor please,� Jr begged. �Go ask him if he is driving the 5 car Saturday since he practiced it in practice today?�
�Sure,� Tony accepted.
�Thanks bud,� Jr thanked him.
�Your welcome,� replied Tony. Tony headed to the Busch garage well Jr and Martin went and sat back at the picnic table.
�Did you talk to Tony?� Tony Jr asked.
�Yes I did and he said yes,� Jr answered.
�Ok,� Tony Jr said.
Tony went over to Jimmie and waited till Jimmie was done talking with Kyle. When he was done, he went up to Jimmie and asked, �Jimmie who is going to drive the 5 Busch car?�
�Were still deciding that Tony,� Jimmie reported. �Why do you ask?�
�I just was wondering,� Tony answered.
�Oh well do you mind?� Jimmie asked. �I have stuff to be doing now.�
�Ok bye,� Tony said. Tony walked over to the picnic table.
�Hey Tony,� Jr greeted him. �Did you find anything out from Jimmie?�
�He said were still deciding,� Tony reported.
�Ok,� Jr said.
�I really think he doesn�t want to tell since its his plan and no one else�s,� Tony told Jr.
�Ok but we still need to find out,� Jr said.
Jimmie snuck over and said, �Find out what?�
�Nothing Jimmie,� Jr answered.
�Tell us now if your driving the #5 on Saturday,� Mikey demanded.
�No I am not going to let you guys know,� Jimmie denied to tell.
�Oh come on Jimmie,� Mikey begged. �Why hide it?�
�Because I am not telling you,� Jimmie answered.
�Why not?� Jr asked.
Jimmie got very and walked away to tell Jeff what they wanted to find out.
�Well they want to be noisy and know every little thing,� Jeff told Jimmie.
�That�s right Jeff,� Jimmie agreed.
�And they can be a pain when they want something,� Jeff added. �But don�t worry I got a plan.�
�Ok,� Jimmie said.
Jeff whispered the plan to Jimmie and Jimmie totally agreed with Jeff.
Meanwhile back at Jr.�s motor coach the ladies were talking. Then the guys come to the trailer and let them know what was going on
�Well at least you guys are ok,� Ashley commented.
�Yes but they have a plan on us,� Jr told Ashley.
