GURPS: Traveller -- The Kainari Campaign

Glisten

Heavy Industry and Mining make up this systems business. There are many asteroid cities scattered throughout the system. The main settlements orbit the systems two gas giants, and it is to there that outside space craft are directed (the ship yards are also here).

Several Planets apparently failed to properly coalesce in the system, giving Glisten an bewildering array of asteroid belts. From these belts come the metals used in Glisten's industries, and most of the Leagues industries.

Most of the Leagues corporations have a major presence in this system (a noticable exception is Lysani Laboratories), which provides so much of their goods. The High Law Level of the system is a direct response to the corporate population of the system, intending to keep corporate fighting to a minimum.

Glisten is also home of most of the shipyards of the League (with the remaining shipyard at St. Lawrence). This also makes it the home port of the League Space Defense Forces (SDF), the name of the League's Navy.

The Virus and the New Era

Glisten was hard hit by the Virus. An asteroid-based civilization, Glisten relied on its High Technology equipment more than any other planet in the League. The sheer size of the system slowed the spread of the Virus, but it still spread, carried by the warnings of the inhabitants. As the survivors of the initial wave of Virus struggled to regain control of their homes (and to defend them against the Vampire Fleet that was shortly before the League Navy), the Naval Units from St. Lawrence, now a Vampire Fleet themselves, Jumped in system. As the two Vampire forces converged on one another, the survivors gathered in the ship yards, which had somehow escaped infection. By the time the battle of the Two Vampire Fleets was over, the humans had manage to bring enough weapontry online to fight off the survivors of the three week conflict.

Since then, the Glistar (as they now call themselves) have fought a continuing battle against Vampires hoping to repair themselves at the Shipyards. The Shipyards have become the home to the Glistar, as well as their temple, where the Glistar worship the "mother/Father/God". Non-beleivers are not allowed inside the "holy places" - which includes the entirety of the ship yards. Though they have rejoined the League and contributed their shipbuilding to the efforts of the League, the Glistar have remained insular and aloof. Their TL seems to have declined to pre-interstellar, but they have large warehouses of Jump Drive components that they are using to build new ships.
