childhood
you know, it takes a long time to grow up. some people never do. and i'm not sure i want to. i mean, look at the world today ... bombs and bullets and death and sex-crazy presidents?! ew! to quote the wisdom of our T.A.G. class ... "there is no gravity - the world just sucks. (don't eat the wax apple.)" ... that just about sums it up.
being born in 1983, i've been able to see and learn a lot of amazing things (and a lot of stupid things ... like anything clinton related). but i kinda know what tori means when she says "glory of the 80s." (don't know this reference? it's a song by tori amos on her album
to venus and back.) i grew up with a stuffed winnie the pooh and a hear to heart bear that i call Daniel. i had a barbie t-shirt shop, and a swimming pool, and parts of an ice cream shoppe.

i had lots of wonderful my little ponies. two cabbage patch dolls, Deidre Priscilla (Dee Dee) and Celeste something. Celeste was the birthday party one; if you pressed on her stomach, air will blow out her mouth. she came with a party favor. i still have pics of me opening her the christmas i got her, and then playing monopoly later with her sitting nearby. i had a keeper ... Sheldon ... a big purple turtle. oh, and remember Rose Petal Place? i had a Daffodil doll ... she even smelled like daffodils! i still have a book around here somewhere ... i also had Lady Lovely Locks ... you've GOT to remember her ... i had her AND Curly Crown AND Fair Hair AND two mermaids AND her horse (purple plastic!) AND her little pink dog. plus lots of random outfits ... and i absolutely LOVED the Golden Books. had tons of those. (sorry about the overuse of caps but i really must emphesize some of this, and
italics just doesn't cut it.)

i used to watch all sorts of cartoon shows ... Carebears (Care-A-Lot! We care a lot!), My Little Pony, Rainbow Brite, Wuzzles, Dumbo's Flying Circus, Muppet Babies, Zoobilee Zoo (one of my most favourites), Kids Incorporated (K - I - D - S yes!), Neverending Story (which I still love to watch), Return to Oz ... there's just no end to the wonders that belong to the 80s child. of course, i can't forget She-ra, or else Heather will get very mad at me. and Holly reminded me of the Smurfs ... i still wonder why there was only one girl ... ;)and then there are some people who look at you like you're smoking crack when you mention one of these fantastic shows ... i'm talking about Zoobilee Zoo in particular. i absolutely adore the show. i want to watch it every day like i used to. but i can't. 'cause it's not on. at least not on any channels *i* have. grr.
anyway, i suppose i'll put up some pictures of me when i was little or something. eventually. if i ever find a scanner that works.

~*~ i must admit, some of the things listed don't ring a bell ... but that's ok ... those of use born in the early 80's are part of a floater period ... not really Gen X or Gen Y ... kind of just hanging loose in the cosmic field of ... something. subspace harmonics sounds good. :)
