| Defenestration formed in 1999 under the name of Chi, but legal reasons made them ditch that name. The original line up was. Gen (Vocals) Lyndsey (Base) Chink (Drums) Reeves (Guitar) & Jay (Guitar). Did i also mention prior to all of this that a certain Jordan Paige of lesser known Kettering band "Occupational Hazard also used to play with the group. The group recorded a demo called 19 which did ok for them and got them a few local gigs. Lyndsey left and Scott was brought into replace her. The group recorded a demo early 2000 in a studio in Nottingham, the three tracks were. Henstrain, In, & Glory. |
| The demo did them well and lined them up for their first major tour supporting local freinds Raging Speedhorn on their UK tour throughout the summer of 2000. The band finsihed writing material towards the end of the year and recorded their debut album in December 2000 and January 2001. At this point Chink (Drummer) has parted ways with the group for uncompramisable reasons and moved on in a new band (Alias 12). Dave Thompson of another local band Scurge and who happens to be brother of Jay Thompson covered for the band while they looked for a new drummer. Stacey Maher was the one and the band snapped him up in February of 2001. He clicked with the group straight away and has been performing with them ever since. They toured around the country with metal legends Napalm Death before embarking on their first headline tour including an MTV sponsored school tour. Defenestration's debut album was released in May 2001 and has sold steadily well since it's release. Defen played two of the biggest festivals in the UK throughout the summer of 2001, Reading and Leeds and were given a very good response by both sets of fans and were awarded 4K for their performances in Kerrang magazine. Throughout the summer they have been writing new material for future releases and played Tattoo The Planet at Wembley Arena in October of 2001 alongside the likes of Raging Speedhorn, Napalm Death, Biohazard, and Slayer. The band toured with Irish rockers Therapy throughout the end of 2001, and now as the new year has come are embarking on their second headline tour sadly without Stacey Maher who parted with the band in late January. An old college friend of Jay and Scott's Ben Gorderlier was brought in to take over the posistion. Many new tracks were written throughout the first half of the year and little has been heard of the band fro a while. Ben decided to leave the band in the summer and concentrate on his recording studio and after a few auditions new drummer Kieran Brain has been brought in for replacement. The band recorded a new demo of all new material in October and started gigging again. 2003 burst onto the scene and the band were more determined than ever, signing a new deal with DreamCatcher and recording their 2nd album Ray Zero in April of that year. As summer kicked in the band went on tour with Fallen To, to give the country a taste of what to expect from Ray Zero. |
