Savoury

Sausage Stew
This is a recipe that I came up with when starting my 2 oldest children on cooking
meals at about the age of 10. Using the mashed potato powder was an easier way for
them to thicken the stew than using flour . (Please supervise them in the kitchen)
6 blanched and skinned sausages cut into bite size pieces, 1 large  carrot peeled and
cut into rings, 1 cup of peas or beans, 1 small onion peeled and chopped, 1 small can
of corn kernels, 2 teaspoons of chicken stock powder, 1 packet of instant mashed
  potato
Put everything in a large saucepan and pour over just enough water to cover them
(about 300ml). Bring to the boil, then lower the heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
Remove from heat and stir through enough mashed potato powder to thicken to gravy
consistency. This is still one of their favourites and they're both over 20 now. It's a
quick, easy meal to prepare especially after a long day out.

Martian Mousse
Dissolve one packet of lime jelly in one cup of boiling water (make sure mum's
watching). Allow to cool (thick not set). Place in a blender with one cup of natural
yoghurt. Blend till frothy then pour into bowl. Refrigerate till set. (for those children
that don't like yoghurt, use one cup chilled, evaporated milk)

Easy Rocky Road
Cut a 100gm bag of marshmallows into halves. Mix with: 225gm rough crushed plain
biscuits, 1/2 cup peanuts, 3/4 cup icing sugar 2 tablespoons cocoa. Melt 125gm
copha in a saucepan or microwave (aske an adult to help). Mix really well, pour into a
greased and lined 20cm square tin and chill. When cold cut into pieces.

Peanut Butter Honeys
1 cup honey, 3/4 cup peanut butter, 2 1/2 cups rice bubbles.
Melt peanut butter and honey together in saucepan or microwave (ask an adult to
help). Pour over ricebubbles and mix well. Press into a greased 20cm square tin and
chill. Cut into slices when set.
