DEESIDE ROLLER SKATING CLUB RESULTS 2004
BRUXELLES SUNDAY'S - MARCH 20th /21st 2004.... Eleanor Sloane travelled to Bruxelles this month to represent Deeside RSC at the Bruxelles Sunday's event in Belgium. This is Eleanors first event as a first year Cadet, so she was required to skate a short and long program. On Friday Eleanor's practices all went very well. On Saturday morning Eleanor skated her short program, which didn't all go to plan but she still completed her combination jump of D.Lutz, 1/2 loop, D.Flip, D.Toe, the Solo D.Flip, single Axel and step sequence. Unfortunately Eleanor's spins didn't come off as she would have liked but she still finished in 11th place on the short program. This meant that she would be skating in the second of four groups for the long program on Sunday. On the Sunday Eleanor had to skate a 3 minute free program. My heart skipped a beat when two elements into the program Eleanor looked in my direction and I realised she had forgotten her program. I called the next element out to her and hoped that the program would come back to her and it did ....PHEW! Eleanor went on to skate a really good free program with just one fall on the Double Flip. Eleanor and (Cadet) team mate Lucy skated so well they both saw off the opposition not only from their own group but they stayed on top throughout most of the third group too. This meant that Eleanor moved up from 11th place on the short program to 8th place overall, a brilliant result for Eleanor's first year at Cadet.
FARS NOVICE & BRONZE EVENTS 2004 We travelled up to Newton Aycliffe this weekend where Jade Power competed in her first ever national FARS event. Jade skated in the novice section figures, free and combined. Jade managed a respectable 9th place in her figures. Later after the set elements section Jade skated her free program. Most of the skaters in Jade's group got marks between 4.0 and low 5's Jade skated really well getting her marks of up to 6.8. This meant that Jade came 6th in the free bringing her overall placing to 8th. A brilliant result for Jade's first FARS event. On The Sunday Eleanor skated in the FARS bronze event. It was a tough event with all the top skaters skating great programs, Eleanor's program went really well, she did have one fall but the rest was great. Ellie's program consisted of all the higher class double jumps and spins and she managed them all except one double Lutz which she fell on, but she put another one in later and this time held on to it. Eleanor was tied on points for third place which meant we had to sit biting our nails through all the presentations and Eleanor came home in fourth place, which is still a very good placing for such a high standard event. We're all really proud of both of you and Well Done again!
