Serenity is not freedom from the storm,
but peace amid the storm
.
Taken from the 91st Psalm
Surely He will save you from the traps of the enemy and deadly evil all around.
He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will be protected:
His truth will be your shield.
You will not be afraid for the terror by night: nor for the arrow that flies by day;
Nor for the *pestilence that comes in the darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
A thousand will fall at your side and ten thousand at your right hand;
but they will not come upon you.
Only with your eyes will you behold and see the punishment of the wicked.
Because you have made the Lord, the most High, your habitation;
No evil will befall you, neither will any plague come upon your home.
For the Lord will give his angels charge over you, to keep you safe along the way.
They will hold you up in their hands in case at any time you should fall.
You will tread upon the lion and the snake and you will trample them under you feet.

For the Lord has said...
Because you have loved me, therefore will I deliver you:
I will set you on high, because you have known my name.
You will call upon me, and I will answer you:  I will be with you in trouble;
I will deliver you, and honor you.
With long life will I satisfy you, and show you my salvation.
God promises a safe landing, not a calm passage.

I would like to dedicate this page to the victims of the September 11th attacks.  When I say "victims" that includes all the families and friends who lost loved ones in the attacks.  For truly, they were victims also.  It is my prayer they find comfort and peace under the wings of our Almighty God.
*Interesting Note:
I got to thinking about the word "pestilence" and wondering exactly what it meant.  So I decided to look it up in the dictionary and this is what Webster's had to say;

pestilence- 1. any virulent or fatal contagious or infectious disease, especially one of epidemic proportions, as bubonic plague  2. anything, as a doctrine, regarded as harmful or dangerous

I found the definition interesting, considering the events taking place in our world today.
Isn't it wonderful that we can look to God's Word and find solace and direction in times of trouble.

To think that He tells us if only we would trust in Him, we will be under His protection.
No pestilence, destruction or evil should we fear.
