The NYS DOT is planning to build a recreational trail connecting Jones beach to Captree and across the bridges to West Islip and beyond.
A few of us have been writing to the DOT about this for a while and could use your support for another idea : to create another trail along the old LONG ISLAND MOTOR PARKWAY
(Vanderbilt parkway) starting in Melville where the Vanderbilt ends today all the way thru Nassau and into Queens, where NYC trails exist today. I added a new website at
www.geocities.com/denisbyrne/motorpk.html and had letter published regarding this issue in Newsday's June 9, 2000 edition.
Visit the NYSDOT site and their e-mail at NYSDOT e-mail feedback form and let them know of your support of both trails (or anything else! )
