Ginger Snaps 2: Unleashed
This was far better than most genre sequels. But those of us who saw the first, and realized that the same people were responsible for this... well, we knew that already, didn't we, kiddies? This was definately a bit more grown-up than it's predecessor, and that's good - so are it's fans. The cinematography was amazing. The soundtrack was heart-pounding. The acting - Holy shit. Emily Perkins has really come into her own. Her performance completely overshadows any appearances Katharine Isabelle makes, however, her apperances, while short, are still quite sweet. Tatiana Maslany, who plays a secretly twisted little girl named Ghost, also gives quite a convincing performance. I actually found myself at times forgetting how young this actress is.

The Plot:
This picks up a short time after where the former left off. Brigette is living on her own, and she is still infected with the curse, but she's staving it off with injections of monksblood - the herb she discovers in the first film. Her dead sister, Ginger, comes to her as a hallucination from time to time; to berate her, mostly, but nevertheless, she does make several appearances. There is a male werewolf hunting her, she is constantly on the run. But her plans are stalled when she passes out and wakes up in an institution. Here, the staff of the hospital believe she's a drug addict, and she is treated as such. She meets a young girl named Ghost, who is staying at the hospital while her grandmother is recovering from serious burns. The counsellors are jackasses, and the orderlies trade sex for drugs with the female patients, and all the while, Brigitte is trying desperately to combat the inevitable transformation that is happening within her.
