George W Bush is 43rd American President, Gore bows out
Thursday, December 14 (Washington DC):
Thirty-six days after the Americans went to
the polls, they have a new President.
George W Bush will be sworn in next month
as the 43rd American President.
A short while back, Vice President and
Democrat candidate Al Gore addressed the
nation and conceded defeat. He did say, however, that he disagreed
with Wednesday’s Supreme Court judgment, which had struck down
the Florida ruling on manual recounts, but that in the interest of
national unity he was stepping down from the race.
