Black Locust

Robinia pseudoacacia
Legume Family

Black Locust is very common, fast growing (up to 70-80 ft.) and quick to establish itself in disturbed areas. It's hard, durable wood is the standard for fence posts and rails. Locusts are legumes. Bees work the fragrant white blossoms (blooms in May) and make the best honey in my opinion.
