| If you'd like to start researching your own Family Tree. Here are a few research sites that you may find useful. The Government site with the complete 1901 census it is easy to use and you can obtain the tokens to view the 'pay for' pages at your local library. The Family Search Site run by the Latter Day Saints and has a complete listing of the 1881 census complete with search facilities for the census, family ancestral records on line and Genealogical Indexs. Rootsweb and Genuki are both sites for the Family History researcher and have indexes of family trees on line that you can search. With Rootsweb been heavily involved in the World Connect venture where people are uploading their family trees, on the free to view site, hoping to find new family and help others find theirs. Other free to view sites where people can upload their own family trees for others to view are Geneanet and Gencircles. Both have search engines to look for family names under varying criteria. And if you think that you may have ancestors that perished whilst in the service of their country you can look on the Wargraves site. To trace Births, Deaths and Marriages, the FreeBMD site is a must, as is it's sister site FreeReg You can also enter your family tree online at both the Genesconnected, and Geneanet sites which both have search engines for their database to see if anyone has entered the same names as you. And last but not least have alook at the Access to Archives site, which if nothing else is worth just putting your own name in to see what your name sake did in the past. |
