Thrust Area :
The major crops of the area are Tur, Cotton, Paddy and Jowar. The knowledge and production skill of packages of practices will be taught for increasing crop yields.
Majority of the people in this area are tribal having very less land holdings. Irregularity in getting work throughout the year is the major problem faced by them. Efforts will be made to creates more employment opportunities through skill oriented income generating activities.
This area is rainfed, hence there is a need for introduction of dry land horticultural crops.
The livestock management in this area is very poor, hence, it is necessary to impart training on rearing of animals, their housing, feeding, watering and breeding.
Agro-ecological situation of the district :
Total area of the district is 7,77,000 ha.
5,38,956 ha land is cultivable.
Average rainfall is 800-1000 mm.
Soil is medium black to loamy.
Irrigated land is 25.43 per cent of the cultivable land.
Main crops are Cotton (1.38 ha.), Pigeonpea (1.24 lac ha.) Paddy (0.63 lac ha), Maize (0.44 lac ha.).
Animal population is 8.37 lac.

In the adopted villages, FLD on Gram var. ICCC-4 was arranged in 5 ha.in a view to its economical feasibility in the region and to introduce a pulse crop as well.
