Hello Folks:
Well here we are into the second year of the new Millennium, having bade farewell to 2001 by linking hands at midnight and singing Auld Lang Syne at our Club sponsored New Year's Eve Dance in Richmond. Although the turn-out was less than we'd hoped, those who joined our circle had a good time on the dance floor, whirling to music, which ran the gamut from Latino rhythms to rock n roll and smoooooth Big Band favourites.
The dinner buffet was both plentiful and tasty and offered an excellent variety of cuisine, so everyone tucked into the spread with gusto. Lorelei Todd deserves a huge round of applause for all the meticulous planning and work that went into setting up the hall and festive table decorations, and for taking on the role of a vivacious MC during the show. Our grateful thanks also go out to Karen and Albert Fernandes, who put together the delectable hamper which was awarded as a door prize; to Albert Lee and to Keith Vint who, at short notice, came by to help set up the hall; and last but very far from least, to all those who stayed on to help dismantle and clean up the premises after the show was over.
The AGM being held on March 16th in Ladner is our first function in 2002, and an extremely important one at that. Once again, the future of the Club is at stake, as we need to fill all four Executive offices in order to comply with the statutory requirements of a provincially registered organisation. We hope our members will volunteer their services so that we may continue to organise functions that foster a spirit of camaraderie and good-fellowship amongst us. To that end, a good-old-fashioned sing-along session will follow the AGM, and the following day being St. Patrick's Day, we hope to belt out those all time favourites like Danny Boy, Galway Bay and When Irish Eyes are Smiling, among other well-loved ditties.
Regards,
Ashley
