| Goddesses Sing (A Sonnet) I don't know why I hadn't listened to you before. And now, standing outside of your window, under this shady tree, I can't imagine living without you. You open your mouth to sing, and I dissolve on your doorstep, a puddle of adoration. The enchanting words which flow so elegantly from your sweet and delicate lips are sung into the depths of your empty house. Oh why do you sing to no one, when I'm right here? Why do you let the dust and cobwebs be your audience, when I am dying out here, in the spring air, yearning to be inside with you? So I continue to listen through the crack in the door, hoping and praying that you'll, one day, know that in my head, your bewitching voice will always ring! And to think, before today, I had never heard a Goddess sing. |
