So why did I choose deedee as my nickname?

It goes to a long way back in 1989, when The All-New Mickey Mouse Club was on television. I was a great fan of all sorts of kiddy shows on TV and I never miss any of the All-New MMC. Those were the days, when Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Keri Russell (in Felicity), Justin Timberlake and JC Chasez (lead singers of 'N Sync) were the teenage mouseketeers on the All-New MMC.

The person that caught my eyes then wasn't Britney or Christina, but the petite Asian Deedee Lynn Magno. From my memories, I remember her as the very pretty and talented girl on MMC, with very long black hair and a very sweet smile. And being the only Asian she easily caught my eyes, and of course I was awed by her command of English. I wasn't good in English then as I speak only Mandarin at home and I was so impressed by her, an Asian speaking such fluent English! It didn't occur to me then that she grew up in America and has been speaking English for as long as she was speaking...

I wonder what has happened to the little Asian girl on TV that I so adored years ago, thus just now I found through various search engines, websites with news on Deedee and MMC, some are hyperlinked to from this page. After MMC, Deedee was in The Party, and later, the very talented Deedee performed in the Broadway production of Miss Saigon as the lead role, Kim. Click here for pictures of Deedee in Miss Saigon.

Deedee Magno in the MMC times.

So those were the days, and although MMC was in 1989, I still vividly remember that little Asian girl on TV and in 1997 when I first started using the Internet, I used deedee as my nick for ICQ and whenever I use IRC, I'll use deedee too. Now, deedee is my registered nick on GalaxyNet and since 1997 I have been using this nick for ICQ and I don't intend to change that.

So I'm not DeeDee from Dextor's Lab, just for you info since a lot of ya people have been harassing me with questions like "So you are Dexter's sister?" and I'll go "Huh?" until recently when I start watching Cartoon Network at home (after exams I spend most of my Sundays on Cartoon Network, I guess perhaps too much stress on weekdays when I do my normal academic stuff, eg. my FYP) otherwise I absolutely have no idea who the hell is this Dexter or his sister. Nevermind, so now I know Dexter's Laboratory is a great cartoon, and I like Sheep in the City on Cartoon Network too. All the stoopid cartoons. Heehee. But still cute, a really good way to destress. Highly recommended. :)
