Working as a cop like her father she had been ignored by him ever since her mother died. After that he stopped knowing how to be anything but a cop, often criticising and ignoring his daughter. She was on the trail of a murderer when she met Angel in a club where they were both after the same person. They became good friends but she then suspected he was the killer. When the case was resolved she and Angel became allies against crime until she discovered he was a vampire. She hated him from then on convinced he was evil and became obsessed with the supernatural, taking on the weirdest cases. She tied bonding with her father several times but each time he brushed her off yet despite this she still loved him. When he was killed by vampire whom he had been having shady businesses with, Kate became even more angry against all vampires including Angel. She tried to have him arrested and killed many times convinced he was a killer. The other officers in the force noticed her interest in the supernatural and laughed at her. Eventually she was fired from the force because of this. Desperate she began taking drugs. Angel found her and was able to revive her as she lay on the floor. When she was revived she told him that he had her from death. He had been able to come in when she lay on the floor dead.

Used as a contact and spy by Angel Merl was a demon. Angel occasionally came to Merl for information which he took by offering money or dumping him under water for a few minutes. Merl was obviously fed up. He sometimes got information on new demons, photographs of certain people or news in the underground. Unfortunately he was finally killed by Gunn's former crew who were hunting demons down whether they were killers or not. Merl was left a splatter of grew goo on the walls of his apartment when Angel found him.
Love Relationships: Former lover - Cordelia
Positions: Former champion of Pylea, Deposed ruler of Pylea.
From Pylea, another dimension, the Groosalug is a well known human (cow) cross with demon. He is a great warrior who works for the rulers of Pylea. He accepts any challenge from an opponent. He fell in love with the Princess, Cordelia. He was told to comshuck (mate) with her so that his demon powers would absorb her power of visions. However she refused to give him the visions. He fought against Angel and was almost killed by him until Cordelia intervened declaring her love for him as well. After Pylea became a equal society, Groosalug was given the throne to rule. He stayed there for a while but abdicated when the people of Pylea formed a republic. He travelled to this dimension and found Cordelia. There the two fell in love but could not make love as she would lose her powers. However they found a potion that would prevent this and went away on a holiday together. After they came back, Groosalug began to notice that Cordelia did not really love him but loved Angel. Saddened he went out for a walk telling Lorne to only tell Cordelia if she asked. By night time he returned to find that Cordelia had not even asked about him or noticed he was gone. Saddened he packed him things and left.
Love Relationships: Love interest - Gunn
Born with the powers to electrocute or short circuit anything that touched her, Gwen was also cursed with not being able to touch anything. She became a hired thief with her ability to disrupt cameras, lasers and alarms. She met Angel when she was hired to steal a orb for a client and he wanted it to find Cordelia. The two worked together and Gwen found that her powers did not hurt Angel. She killed Gunn with her touch but then revived him with another shock. She gave up the Orb to Angel knowing that he was trying to find someone he loved. She skipped town after the Beast began to shake things up in LA. Later she returned when the Beast was destroyed to get Gunn's help with another assignment. She told him that her job was to rescue a girl who had been kidnapped as a hostage. However Gwen betrayed Gunn using him 'rescuing' the girl as a distraction while she stole something. Gunn realized the setup and confronted Gwen but then decided to help her anyway. They were stopped but Gwen used her powers and they got away. Gwen explained that the device she stole was for herself and that it may help her control her powers. It worked and after that she and Gunn slept together.
