Materials:
Pantyhose or tights in desired color (flesh or pink works well)
Fiberfill
Strong thread & large needle
Tin pie pan (pot pie size)*
Glue gun & stix
Lace or eyelet
Ribbon, tiny silk flowers, string beads ect......
Pink marker or blush
4 1/2" circle of stiff cardboard*
Directions:
Cut the pantyhose 1" larger than the cardboard circle.
Thread a large needle & do a running stitch all around the pantyhose,
1/4" from the edge.
Leave thread ends long enough to pull & tie.
Place the pantyhose on a flat surface.
Make 3 cotton ball size balls with the fiberfill.
Place one in the nose area & the other 2
below & to each side of the nose for cheeks.
Place a large handfull of fiberfill over the 3 balls.
Place the cardboard circle over all,
pull threads to gather the pantyhose around the cardboard circle.
Pull tight & tie off. Head made.
Turn the head over.
With the needle, poke & pull the nose & cheek
areas till they are in the correct place (refer to photo).
With a pencil lightly draw a circle approx.
the size of a nickle for the nose.
Thread the needle, poke up through the cardboard
& all layers
coming out just below the nose on the pencil line drawn.
Do a running stitch over the pencil line,
poke the needle back down through all layers.
DO NOT CUT THE THREADS YET!
Use the tip of the needle & pull up the fiberfill to fill the nose area.
Now pull the threads tight & tie off. Nose made.
Glue curly hair all around the face
or just at the top, your choice.
Glue head onto rim of pie pan.
Glue lace around the head.
Tie a ribbon bow & glue to the lace just below the "chin" area.
If you make a girl glue a bow to her hair.
* Any size pie pan can be used for this project.
You will need to adjust the cardboard circle size
& the pantyhose circle to fit the pan you use.
The cardboard fits just inside the opening of the pan.*
