Padded Picture Frames

Materials:

Stiff cardboard/tagboard/mat board
Quilt batting
Fabric of your choice
Ribbon, lace, buttons, silk flowers ect.....
Glue gun & stix
Craft knife

Directions:

The size is totally up to you.
I made the oval approx. 8" tall.
The opening is approx 2" across & 3" tall.
Cut 2 pieces from cardboard.
Cut the opening in one piece.
You can make it round, oval square ect...
Place the piece with the opening down on the batting & cut out.
Glue batting to piece.
Cut fabric 1" larger than cardboard all around.
Clip corners & glue to piece.
Cutting the opening can be a bit tricky!
For square openings, cut an X from corner to corner.
Fold the cut pieces to the back & glue.
For a circle or oval you will need to cut a small circle/oval
from the center & then make many snips,
fold back each piece & glue.
Glue lace to the back edge of your piece with the cut out.
Now cover the 2nd piece. No batting required.
Cut fabric 1" larger than cardboard all around.
Clip corners & glue to piece.
Now cut another piece of fabric to cover
the remaining cardboard that can be seen.
Glue the front to the back BUT leave an opening
at the top or side to slip your picture in.
Make a hanger of ribbon or a pop tab
& glue to the top back of the frame.
If you would like it to sit cut a piece of cardboard approx. 2" x 6".
Make a fold about 1" down from any end.
Cover with fabric & glue to the back of the frame.
You will glue the 1" piece to the frame.
Add decorations of your choice.
