I have been working in the cosmetic arts industry for roughly 4 years. I started out with pre-training in Michigan with Michele Worthing, a very respectable stylist and owner of Studio 57 in Clio, MI. She is also moonlighting as a Scruples educator. When we got stationed in North Carolina I did my formal cosmetology training and went straight to work, where I met my other mentor Elizabeth High. She is an American Board Certified Haircolorist, owner of Eli and Co., an upscale salon in Fayetteville, NC, and is certified as by Redken as a Redken color educator. I first worked with Eli as a colleage, but when she went out to start her own salon, I followed and worked as her assistant, learning the ins and outs of the business.
Misawa is our second duty station and we have been here for over a year and a half now. My husband and I like it so far and are looking forward to traveling a lot while we are here. He was working with the 35th MXS in the Sensors/EW shop, but he got pulled to work directly with the MXS commander as his resources advisor. He also applied for an OTS slot on the most recent rated board.. so we have our fingers crossed that he will make a pilot slot.
I am currently working on a B.A. Asian Studies, minoring in Natural Science, but I hope to someday get a B.S. Biology or Microbiology and eventually a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine.
