Part Five - A Bit of Computer Work...

Joan had no client appointments on Wednesday afternoons, and so I planned a half-day away from my Alter Ego's real job (pays for many of us -- him, me, and his wife and kids). I dressed him in some of my favorite undies under his business attire, he went to work in the morning, and at lunch time we headed across town to Joan's.

Joan's door had a CLOSED sign up, but she'd told me this would be the case, and to just come in. My A E reviewed her computer situation (Windows 3.1 on a 386, with shortage of hard disk space, among other problems.) He put together a mental estimate (disk compression, re-installation of some key components and application subsystems, but not to disrupt Joan's current work files.

He quoted a number of hours he estimated the work would take, and Joan blinked -- I suppose like I had when I learned the prices of the forms we were buying the week before. How much do you charge per hour? she asked,

"Well, I really work at this for my employer, and I really have never looked at branching out for myself," he began. "I did a lot of work for my wife's business, but she never paid in money," he continued with a wink and smile.

Joan smiled, but asked again, and my A E suggested that friends who did work like this usually charged $50 to $60 an hour. This overall could be 10 hours, or about $500 at that rate. Before we went any further with the computer business, Joan said that my forms had yet to arrive, but should within a few days (ultimately, this took over a month).

She took me back to the fitting room, and wanted to show me an alternative -- and we began the fitting process but with a bit larger (to my mind huge) bra -- but it was just the next cup size larger -- the original had been a 36B, and this was a C. She explained to me that with my frame size, I probably should have more shape. The full Camp heart-shaped forms were wonderful, and I put my business shirt on over the bra and forms. "Let's wait a few minutes for those to warm and for you to get used to them, and then we'll check the fit again," she suggested as we went back to the computer business discussion.

"With my costs, perhaps you'd be willing to do the computer work in exchange for these forms, bra, a custom fit body shaper, and some MtoF consultation." she continued. If my A E was eager for this, you wouldn't have seen how he reacted as I kicked him into accepting.

Over the next several weeks, we went to Joan's every Wednesday afternoon. Her computer was working like she wanted, and eventually the smaller, B-cup Amoena forms arrived.

I learned a lot about dressing and style from Joan, and about judicious use of surgical tape as well. This was several years ago, Joan is still in business, but her name has been changed to avoid embarrasment to anyone. The forms are still like new -- see the red and white pictures where I'm wearing the larger forms, and the gold where I'm wearing the smaller ones. The ivory picture has push-up foam pads from Fredericks -- not near as fulfilling. (Sorry about the pun-ishment!)

I hope you enjoyed this recounting of part of how I came to be who and what I am! Love to all,

Dee
