A speech I delivered at Campus Crusade for Christ in my last semester of college: Intro: Letting go. 4:24 mile as a HS freshman. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe. HS Track, getting sick, U of M, further lessons. Live in the moment, each of those was sweet at the time and carry some joy some times, but it’s the lesson that remained. What is the world’s view on a life like mine? My passions: The Word is life. We must be one on one with God to know Him. 2 Tim 3:16 – “All scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” Like the heavenly armor’s sword. Isaiah 55:11 – The Word of God will not return empty. Dt 6:7 – “Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” For me, it takes other people. The only vision I have to understanding my life as seen in eternity is in God’s Word. Unity of believers. The biggest single cause of atheism in the world today is Christians. John 13:34-35 – “As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” I would not have emotionally survived without God’s people, other’s good advice pointed me towards success and happiness, Godly counsel led me towards opportunities for a lasting legacy. Time is short. The master will return, will His servants have been lazy? Most powerful group on earth: · Powerful 1%. · Time of mass communication. · Citizenship in most powerful nation on the planet. · Body of Christ – empowered by the Holy Spirit. I Cor 4:2 – Him who has much, much will be expected What tells you if you are pleasing God? Refer to the two above points. Absolute morality; each one must be totally convinced in His own mind. He that honors Me, I will honor him. We are dead, that leaves no excuses. God will never leave you to a place he will not equip you for. Future tense. Romans 12:2 – “Do not conform… be transformed… discern goodness and God’s will.” God as a Father (prayer, what pleases Him). Psalm 115:3 – “Our God is in heaven; He does whatever pleases Him.” Lens on life. My time is not my own, my future is a privilege not a right, fairness is a luxury, worldly gain is only a loan.
