Random Thoughts Warning: The thoughts collected here are sometimes unpolished, admittedly overstating the point, and often covering personal topics. The intent here is to make one reconsider the nuts and bolts of how he/she thinks and what they believe. Jesus could’ve lived a perfect life and been extremely influential. He gave up His perfect life to allow us to continue His work as imperfect people. How can we settle for anything, but our whole desire going into His work. If we desire to rid ourselves of something we must replace it with another. For example, if you catch yourself lusting after something and command your heart not to think about it again, your open mind will most likely suffer a near identical temptation soon after. However, if lust is immediately replaced with prayer, scripture, or fellowship; there will be no readily available void (in our hearts and thoughts) to attract another sin. Daniel was sorrowful for sins on behalf of Israel though he was 'upright'. Though I am hard on the modern church, shouldn't I mimic his selfless intercession on our behalf. And if not for this generation of the church, then certainly for this generation of our nation. We are not a people expected to be devoid of sin. However, God’s people are called to be quick to admit proper guilt, quick to ask forgiveness, to abhor anything sinful, and to desire a right and obedient life. If the world could experience this in us, they would be duly without excuse. What shall we do with the fact that standards of good and evil exist? (See note for evidence.) Either mankind is the standard of good, and evil has a foreign source… Or people are not inherently good (as some believe) and the standard of good is above us and we are in violation of that standard… Or people have invented both good and evil standards. This is possible, but unlikely given the near universality with which the races have all identified certain things as good and certain thaings are bad. Note: If you claim to denounce any standards of good and evil, let me punch you in the face when we first meet. Then you may restate your position (not to my pleasure, but this step may need to be repeated with some). The tongue: Prov 18:13 – He who answers without listening- that is his folly and his shame James X – Quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry X – A tongue is like a rudder, it is the small thing that steers the big thing Did He know that he would die for us on Adam’s first day of creation? Wow. In Jesus’ earthly years He came in humility and love to the lowly. While He is all of these things, His more rightful appearance is seen in Revelation (starting in 19:11), on the Mount of Transfiguration, and possibly in Daniel. It’s amazing that we call Him the Lamb. Mark 6 shows a prophet without honor among His own and shows the people with little faith. Mark 7 and 8 show Him in deep sighing. “Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy.” –Psalm 126 There is little record of Him and His cousin John hanging out. “It is not the healthy who need a doctor but the sick.” –Math 9:12 “Jesus wept.” –John 11:35 & “This sickness will not end in death” –John 11:4 This is powerful, because it shows that God’s prophecies will ALWAYS come to pass even if we see something that appears to contradict what we thought we knew (Lazarus did die you know).
